The Department of Classical Philology and Italian Studies, AlmaMater Studiorum, University of Bologna, in conjunction with the ERCConsolidator project INSCRIBE (Invention of Scripts and theirBeginnings), seeks applications for one doctoral scholarship, fullyfunded for three years, starting on the 1st November 2019. Applications will be considered for research in ComputationalLinguistics.
The appointed candidate will be researching ancientundeciphered scripts of the Aegean Bronze age dating to the IImillennium BC by using all the computational techniques available in theNatural Language Processing field. Company:University of BolognaQualifications:Given a solid background in Computational Linguistics, seen as aprerequisite, expertise in the following topics will be considered acompetitive advantage:Python programming and tensor manipulation libraries(specifically Tensorflow and Pytorch);Deep Neural Network architectures(especially Convolutional Neural Networks);Experience in image processing techniques.
