CMCC is constantly working with the goal of extending its network of collaboration with universities and research agencies by participating in the competitive funding process for Grants Tenders (European research and innovation programs, as well as national and international competitive funding).
To this end, CMCC has an in-house office - the Fund Raising Office based in Milan - dedicated to the monitoring of national, European and international funding opportunities, and supporting the preparation and submission of CMCC proposals throughout the pre-award phase. CMCC Fund Raising team is now seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Grant Specialist to join the team.
This role involves identifying funding opportunities, managing complex grant applications, supporting the negotiation of funded projects.

We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey that will further boost CMCC's global position in climate change research…Together!ROLEThe Senior Grant Specialist reports to the Head of Fund Raising and is responsible for the activities described below:RESPONSIBILITIESThe Senior Grant Specialist will support the Fund Raising team, with:Identify and prioritize high-value funding opportunities from international, European, national, and private funding sources, aligned with CMCC's mission. Lead the preparation, submission, and negotiation of complex grant applications. Build and maintain relationships with funding agencies, partners, and stakeholders. Oversee grant compliance and eligibility, ensuring adherence to organizational and funding agency standards. Support the negotiation of the contracts with the financing bodies and liaise with CMCC researchers, consortium partners, funding authorities and other CMCC departments for what concerns the administrative legal requirements. Provide mentorship and training to junior staff and researchers on funding strategies. Contribute to strategic planning for CMCC Fund Raising Activities. Contribute to the tracking of CMCC grant applications. REQUIREMENTSMaster's degree in a relevant field (e. g.
environmental science, fundraising, public administration). Minimum of 5 years of work experience in grant writing, fundraising, and/or research administration. Very good knowledge of the English language. Accuracy and good analytical skills. Proven track record of securing significant funding from diverse sources (e. g. , Horizon Europe, Interreg, Italian/National and Regional Funds, international funds e. g.
UN, WB, ADB funds). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of successful grant proposals. Exceptional organizational, leadership, and grant making management skills. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines. Familiarity with financial planning and grants management tools. Experience in the negotiation process (e. g.
review of legal contracts). Knowledge of (spoken and written) Italian English is essential. Proficiency in computer skills. Strong analytical ability to identify and analyze issues/problems. Efficient multitasking, organizational and time management skills. Ability to work both independently and in a team. Ability to identify priority activities and assignments, and to adjust priorities as required. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and diverse environment. Proposal drafting and public funds scouting is preferred over project management. Higher experience will be preferred. Experience in applying for HORIZON funding is essential. DURATION, COMPENSATION BENEFITSPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. The Senior Grant Specialist will be based in Milan CMCC office. Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience. Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract. Flexible working time as per internal policies. Support during the immigration process, if needed. PROTECTED CATEGORYBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition. Some fiscal benefits could be applied for repatriated workers or foreign researchers/professors, having the requirements defined by Dlgs 147/2015 (for repatriates) or Dl 78/2010 (for foreigners).
