Over the last decade, CMCC has experienced extraordinary growth. We are now embarking on a new chapter of our journey, launching a cutting-edge Strategic Program on the Integration of the planetary biogeochemical and industrial carbon cycle (ICC) that will further boost CMCC's global position in climate change research. We are looking for a Scientific Program Manager, capable of effectively liaising with multiple stakeholders, including researchers, administrators, and external partners, with strong operational management experience and the ability to prioritize tasks and solve problems efficiently.

ROLEThe Scientific Program Manager reports to the ICC Program Director and is responsible for the smooth running of the Program and related day-to-day operations in close collaboration with the CMCC research Institutes and Programs.
RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic support: providing strategic support to the Program Director and research team, contributing to the development and implementation of research objectives, initiatives, and deliverables (strategic documents, presentations, policy briefs, etc. ). Stakeholder coordination: facilitating communication and collaboration among internal and external stakeholders, such as researchers, administrators, and funding bodies. Operational oversight: managing day-to-day administrative tasks, preparing and monitoring the Program budget, and allocating resources to support scientific planning in coordination with the Administration Manager. Compliance and reporting: ensuring compliance with internal regulations and policies; preparing reports and documentation as required by funding agencies or governing bodies. Problem-solving and decision-making: identifying operational challenges and proactively implementing solutions to address them, making data-driven decisions to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of the research program. Team leadership: supervising and managing administrative staff; supporting team professional development and enhancing overall team performance. Continuous improvement: continuously evaluating and refining administrative processes and procedures to streamline operations and enhance the overall effectiveness of the research program. Fundraising strategy coordination: mapping funding sources in collaboration with the Fundraising Office and in line with the financial plan of the three Institutes. REQUIREMENTSPhD in Earth Sciences, Environmental Science, Climatology, Geosciences, Biogeochemistry or equivalent subjects. Minimum of 5 years of work experience in a research field. Excellent knowledge of the English language. Accuracy and good analytical skills. Knowledge of European, national, and regional funding programs. Strong focus on research objectives. Ability to coordinate and manage personnel effectively. Proven capability to plan, organize, and supervise research activities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Scientific familiarity with the global carbon cycle monitoring, modeling, and management, including climate change solutions and interventions. DURATION, COMPENSATION & BENEFITSPlease note that this opportunity will be issued both internally and externally. The Scientific Program Manager will be based in Milan's CMCC office. Contract and gross annual salary will be based on qualifications and working experience. Welfare package, for minimum 12 months contract. Flexible working time as per internal policies. Support during the immigration process, if needed. The position is available for an immediate start. PROTECTED CATEGORYBelonging to legally protected categories (ex L. 68/99) will constitute a preferential condition.
