Academic Advisor

The IES Abroad Milan Academic Advisor is a full-time position.
The Academic Advisor will be the students' core referent for academics while they are abroad.
S/he will: Create and manage courses in our database to ensure accurate student transcripts.
Work with enrolment management staff to prepare students' academic files.
Provide online pre-arrival orientation sessions and on-site orientation meetings.
Meet individually with all students to advise and confirm their course registration for all IES courses.
Record and file registration materials for each individual student.
Provide ongoing advising and academic support to students throughout the semester and follow up on any academic issues, sharing information and decisions with Assistant Director and Center Director.
Communicate with students regarding important dates and deadlines, course offerings, course approvals, credit transfers, drop/add or pass/fail requests, approvals to enrol in partner institution courses, and other academic requests.
Monitor students' progress and academic standing and communicate to appropriate channels (i. e. , faculty, staff, home institution).
Perform weekly checks of student attendance in all courses and send notifications to students, faculty, and home institution when necessary; inform faculty of IES-related student absences.
The IES Abroad Milan Academic Advisor may also need to cover various other duties and responsibilities within the general framework of IES Abroad services and cultural activities.
S/he will participate in cultural programming throughout the semester (Orientation program, special events, emergency services, field trips and farewell concert and dinners), serve as chaperone on IES Abroad sponsored field trips, and perform other tasks to help ensure the smooth running of IES academic programs.
Although work is by nature autonomous, the IES Abroad Milan Academic Advisor will report directly to the IES Abroad Milan Assistant Director and Center Director, respecting and implementing policies as determined.
