We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer, required to work on Design/Certification and production support activities within the Engineering organization, focusing on engine components (i. e. , Heat exchanger, Structures) designed using Additive technology (i. e. , DMLM).
The successful Engineer will work within the Military Design Engineering section dedicated to Additive Design, taking end-to-end design responsibility of the component by coordinating all activities aimed to test/verify design intent of the component as well as its certification and entry into service.
Due to the nature of the job, the successful Engineer will have the opportunity to quickly develop a vast network across Avio Aero as well as GE Aviation, encompassing several disciplines.
You will work with internal/external suppliers/functions (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, NDT specialists, Program), ensuring the produced part is always aligned with the design intent and certification requirements.
Job Description Essential Responsibilities Capture system requirements, flow down to components definition identifying relevant validation needs. Issue technical documents relative to the components design according to engineering policies and procedures (drawings, presentations, and analysis reports). Contribute and participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews. Develop components and modules design to cost, performance, and life objectives. Proactively support and coordinate activities with manufacturing departments and Suppliers to implement product improvements (e. g. , concurrent design, cost-out activities). Support source technological substantiation and non-conformances assessment. Support activities related to development findings, components performance, and investigations (test requests, test data post-process, laboratories investigation). Qualifications/Requirements Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering from an accredited university. Knowledge of designing components using DMLM technology. Experience with CAD tools (e. g. , Unigraphics NX) is mandatory; CAE tools (e. g. , Nastran, Ansys) are desired. Good knowledge of complex 2D and 3D shapes modeling CAD techniques. Fundamental understanding of mechanical design (static, strength of materials, dynamics, etc.
). Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Team working and inclusiveness proven capabilities. Clear thinking, diligent approach, result-oriented. Fluent English and Italian, both written and oral. Strong oral and written communication skills. Work Visa in accordance with local regulation is required. Desired Characteristics Knowledge of aeronautical aero-engine components or module, technical requirements, design solutions, technologies. Experience in cost and value engineering. Previous experience in mechanical design of complex products and New Product Introduction process. Experience in structural stress analysis.
