We are looking for an Optical Engineer with a passion for space technology to join our team.
You will be in charge of the activities leading the design and development of new prototypes and products, working closely with the mechanical engineering team to integrate opto-mechanical systems.
Projects will range from payloads for in-orbit demonstrations to terrestrial prototypes that advance our key technologies.
Responsibilities: Design, simulate and optimize ground and space laser assemblies and systems using optical software.
Lead integration and testing activities for optical prototypes in both terrestrial and space environments.
Select, size, and analyze mirrors, lenses, detectors, and other optical components.
Perform measurements and functional tests on prototypes and systems.
Collaborate with Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, and Software Engineering teams to define feasibility analyses and validation plans for new systems and missions.
Scout and assess suppliers for optical components.
Conduct functional and environmental testing of prototypes, products, and payloads, including thermal-vacuum, vibration, and radiation tests.
Required Skills: Proficiency in optical design and modeling using tools such as Zemax OpticStudio for laser system design.
Experience with complex optical architectures (e. g. , imaging, focusing, beam shaping, stabilization).
Basic programming skills in high-level software such as MathWorks MATLAB or Python for simulation analysis and experimental data processing.
Knowledge of wavefront control and beam shaping for high intensity lasers.
Hands-on experience in optical measurements and characterization using laboratory equipment.
Experience in working with power lasers, in NIR or VIS wavelengths (preferred).
Qualifications: Education: Master's Degree or PhD in Optical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or Physics, with a strong knowledge of wave optics (PhD is a plus).
Experience: 2+ years in optical or laser system design and development (industry or research).
Familiarity with space qualification standards and aerospace environmental testing (thermal-vacuum, vibration, radiation).
Strong analytical, critical, and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability of working in autonomy as well as in a team.
