Assistant Operations Manager (Warehouse/Transportation)
JOB SUMMARY Assist the Market Manager as it relates to the daily operations of a storage center within a designated territory.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to, directing day-to-day supervision of a storage center and associates, assist the Market Manager in meeting customers' expectations, and maintaining all OSHA and preventative maintenance programs for the storage center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure AM SOP compliance for SC WorkersDispatch & time-stamping assistance for driversPrint IF waybills for day/Check IF waybills for next dayCoordinate with local & IF drivers throughout dayDevelop efficient plan to pull containers based on needsConvert containers for driversConduct training and provide guidance to SC workersEnsure staging for next day/weekLead missing container search and water testing activityMonitor Samsara Software/Video and report violations to Market ManagerComplete any other assigned duties (backup EMT, MM, )Back up Market Manager as needed (rotate Sundays/weekends)Weekly (Bi-weekly) Review and approve payroll each pay cycle due dateSubmit container repair filesMonitor SC Worker IDP training progress/perform SC worker observationsCoordinate DEF / Wiper fluid deliveryOpen PARs, interview, onboard & other SC recruiting / hiring activityMonthly Create/Post monthly SC Worker scheduleEnsure Associate Certification and OSHA complianceMaintain consistent inventory of signs, tools, latches, parts etc.
and assist with orderVisit / Inspect all WH and drop yards in the market on a monthly basis/lead warehouse and drop-yard inspection for audit complianceSubmit KPI & EOM info to MM & corporate supportReview prior month P&L with TM and finance leadAttend Safety training sessions and complete any assigned trainingQuarterly Participate in Individual Development Planning (IDP) with MMComplete Individual Development Planning (IDP) with SCWsLead the coordination of container auctionsFull QTLY container reconciliation turned into TM for self-auditsAttend EMT PODZILLA & customer damage field-repair trainingMANAGEMENT & SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Typically reports to Market Manager.
Job IS directly responsible for managing other employees (e. g. , hiring/termination and/or pay decisions, performance management) Storage Center Workers, Equipment Maintenance Technicians.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Education & Experience Requirements High School diploma required; college degree or a minimum of 1 year of prior management experience. Ability to apply and successfully attain CDL Class B License or higher. Must maintain a current/valid driver license from the state in which position is assigned. Must be able to obtain PODS forklift certification. Ability to obtain a valid DOT medical card. Mechanical ability essential to identify problems with equipment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit at a desk and use a computer for up to 8 hours a day; Ability to use hands and fingers to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to navigate. Ability to stand and walk up to 8 hours a day; Ability to stoop, bend and lift boxes weighing up to 40 lbs. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus. Regularly required to sit; Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; Reach with hands and arms and talk and hear. Ability to hear and verbally communicate using a telephone handset and/or connected headset device. WORKING CONDITIONS Schedule is on a rotating basis with a combination of weekday and weekend work. Travel requirements: Within Local Territory. May be subject to pre-employment criminal background check and/or drug screening as well as random drug screenings in accordance with company policy.
