JTEKT Automotive plant in Piedmont, SC is growing! We are seeking additional early career engineers for our location in the Greenville, SC metropolitan area. Summary/Purpose Provides production engineering support to manufacturing, with strong emphasis on machining and technical knowledge.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities: Assists with design and development for manufacturing processes including process flow, assembly/machining methods and equipmentProvides process engineering skills for process improvement for existing processesSupports designing, developing and testing tooling, fixtures and gauging for manufacturing processesAssist with root cause analysis of technical issuesProvides technical guidance and assistance to the manufacturing team for daily issues and long-term needsPerforms process analysis for quality improvement, cost reduction, and cycle time reductionSupports process changes in engineering documents as neededAssesses spare part problems and makes appropriate changes as approvedSupports grooming new equipment to meet production and quality requirementsPerforms equipment capability studies, APQP and PFMEA requirementsSupports the development of new equipment layout for approvalMakes engineering reports as required for process development or troubleshootingPerforms 5S duties as requiredSupports project administration for process changes (new products, etc. )Ability to work in a team environmentOther duties as assigned by managementSupervisory Responsibilities: This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Special equipment knowledge (vision systems, heat treat, performance testers, HE leak testers, etc. )Ability to analyze statistical dataTechnical skills in manufacturing processes; hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication system, PLCIATF requirement knowledgeMechanical reasoning skills; close tolerance measurements, high level math skillsStrong communication skills both verbal and writtenProblem solving ability; Part drawing interpretationGood interpersonal skillsWork without close supervision; safety orientedGeneral knowledge of ergonomicsAbility to access equipment; work overtime/weekends as neededEducation and Experience: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or associate's degree (technical field) with equivalent relevant experienceCapital procurement exposure and grooming for productionAutomated equipment troubleshooting experience is a plusUnderstanding of design of fixtures for high volume equipmentWork Environment/Physical Demands: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work shift as assigned and overtime is required, as needed. Will be required to do the following throughout the shift: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above and below shoulders, moving left to right repetitively, grasping, and fine finger dexterity. May be required to lift during shift up to 40 lbs. Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields. Forklift, walkee stacker, and or scissor lift experience preferred.
