Associate Vice President, Managing Director
Job DescriptionThe PositionThe Managing Director (MD) is responsible for leading the subsidiary, maximizing growth potential by turning every stone.
This position reports to the Head Organon International and is a member of the Organon International Leadership Team. The Managing Director is an enterprise leader and responsible for developing the country local business strategy and building an innovative vision for the future, focusing on strategic direction and "must win" priorities.
This role will have direct commercial and enterprise-wide responsibilities through managing the local business and ensuring sustainable growth. The Managing Director is responsible for building the organizational Human Capital, focusing on creating strong talents & teams to effectively acquire and develop future leaders and high-performing teams, with demonstrated ability to retain talent, to energize, and to inspire others to higher levels of effort and performance.
The MD also drives the energy and values-first mindset to build the culture, constructive work environment, and employer branding. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring the strongest cross-functional collaboration, focusing on business drivers and enablers to drive the business forward in a compliant way.
The MD will have responsibility for partnering with various internal stakeholders (Finance, Medical, Regulatory, OMS, Compliance, Global Franchises, HR, and others) to collectively plan and execute strategic initiatives through both a local and enterprise lens. This position requires an entrepreneurial mindset to continue Organon's journey in Italy and to further establish our vision and position in the market, through a comprehensive understanding of market structure, dynamics, and key players.
It requires a growth mindset and thorough strategic thinking to access and pricing to develop plans related to various opportunities that are in line with the overall strategies, company mindset, and culture, while ensuring flawless execution of all plans and processes.
Additionally, cultural agility and the ability to sensitively navigate country cultural dynamics will be required to ensure effective and positive leadership, founder engagement, and realization of business goals. Required Education, Experience and SkillsBA/BSC University degree from an accredited university. Experience in leadership roles and/or managing multiple functions, preferably with prior Managing Director/Country Lead experience. Managed a P&L for a commercial organization. Experience leading diverse cross-functional teams. Being a role model of Organon's values and ability to lead a high-performing management team and organization. Identify, attract, and develop talents for the future success of the business. Strong business/commercial acumen, proven ability to grow deep understanding of the local pharmaceutical market and establish new go-to-market models. Innovative and digital mindset. Proven track record in Policy, Access, and Pricing dynamics. Strong influencing skills - ability to navigate among many different stakeholders at corporate levels. Ability to build and execute best-in-class (local) partnership model/alliances. Strong leadership presence and demonstrated leadership experience – able to guide, mentor, and support local management and organization. People management – knows how to get work done through others by empowering, motivating, listening, and providing guidance, setting objectives, managing performance, and providing feedback/coaching. Role model for Organon values and visible sponsor and lead of country Founder Engagement.
Proven ability of fostering engagement and driving a positive culture across local, regional, and global teams. Relationship Building, Influence, and Collaboration as a must: ability to build and sustain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, customers, and scientific leaders. Excellent financial acumen to oversee the P&L and sales forecasts, manage risks and opportunities, and lead sustainable growth. Growth/Entrepreneurial mindset - has imaginative, broad-based mindset to develop business opportunities.
Ability to flex and adapt rapidly to new situations and continually search for new opportunities. Ability to make trade-offs to drive growth. Consumer and customer centricity – understand the various customer groups, their decision-making process, and their operating environment to inform product/service development and customer marketing as well as shape the external environment to deliver long-term competitive advantage. Fast learner, receptive to feedback. Proven track record with diverse commercial models/new go-to-market models is a plus. Italian language preferred.
