Automation Maintenance Technician
Job Description Automation Maintenance Technician The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of industrial automation systems and a proven ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of automated equipment. Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance on automated systems and machinery, including PLCs, robots, and sensors. Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in automated equipment and safety systems, using diagnostic tools and procedures. Repair and replace faulty components, ensuring optimal system performance. Implement and maintain standard operating procedures for automated systems. Collaborate with engineers and other maintenance personnel to improve automation systems and processes. Read and correctly interpret diagrams, blueprints, and equipment specifications. Use electrical testing equipment to assist with determining proper course of action. Maintain, repair, and replace parts as needed, ensuring safety of self, other employees, and property. Utilize proper safety equipment. Maintain personal tools and equipment to established safety standards. Observe all safety procedures used by contractors and subordinate employees, making corrections as needed. Report any potential hazards to superiors immediately. May train employees. Document maintenance activities and generate reports on system performance. WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employees are required to be on-call. Work involves various risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions. Working around moving parts and machines may require the use of protective clothing or gear such as masks, gloves, or shields. Qualifications: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Proven experience in maintaining industrial automation systems. Strong knowledge of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and HMI operation. Experience with robotics, sensors, and other automated equipment. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. PERFORMANCE STANDARDS Thorough knowledge of the Electrical Codes and Safety Codes as they apply to the work being performed. Thorough knowledge of three-phase electricity, motors, and motor controls. Thorough knowledge of the hazards associated with working with electricity and high-voltage electrical equipment. Thorough knowledge of safety rules. Skill to use specialized and general electrical equipment and tools depending upon the position. Ability to carry out oral and written instructions. Ability to troubleshoot intricate electrical equipment, boxes, and lines. Ability to interpret and comprehend complex blueprints, written diagrams, and technical manuals. Ability to take responsibility for the safety of other employees, the public, and property. Ability to work on equipment and lines up to 4160 volts (medium voltage) with assistance.
