This might be the opportunity for you!We seek to establish a pool of suitable applicants with backgrounds in building surveyors, fire protection, fire design, and fire installation. This pool will be valid for a period of 12 months, and suitable applicants may be considered for appointment to similar level vacancies as they arise.

About the RoleIn this diverse role, you will apply relevant fire safety codes and regulations by assessing and inspecting new, proposed, and existing buildings (Classes 2 – 9) to ensure compliance with structural fire safety standards. You are expected to contribute to the development of new buildings by inspecting, testing, and reviewing essential fire safety equipment.
Your work will ensure compliance with structural fire safety legislation, standards, and operational requirements.
Additionally, you will advise and assist stakeholders, further enhancing the safety of new and existing buildings. This unique role allows you to progress your career through the department's Built Environment Building Career Pathways Development Program.
You will start at the introductory level or higher, depending on your experience (salary range: $81, 719 to $139, 958).
If you are found suitable in the pool, this assessment will be completed. You will also have the opportunity to participate in an on-call roster (with additional remuneration and overtime subject to approval) to meet the operational requirements of the department. Choice of SuperThe Fire and Emergency Services (Superannuation Fund) Regulations 1986, prevents DFES from offering choice of super for permanent appointments.
Those appointed permanently, only have the following two options:Remain with their existing GESB Superannuation account; orJoin the Fire and Emergency Services Superannuation Fund. Those appointed on a fixed term contract do have choice of super, however if converted to permanent, employees will need to choose one on the two options listed above.
