No Offer Description The project focuses on the development of new materials to be used as sensing elements for electrochemical sensors, which will be applied to the determination of emerging contaminants (EC) in aqueous matrices.

The EC will be small organic molecules, such as pesticides and perfluoro derivatives.

The materials tested will be nanostructured chitin derivatives from fish waste that incorporate graphene oxide suitably functionalized to interact with the target analyte and to activate electrocatalytic processes useful for the electrochemical detection.

The chemical-physical properties of the composite material, both as such and for the interaction with the analyte, will be studied through microscopic and spectroscopic techniques, while the analytical performances will be studied through different electrochemical techniques, both voltammetric and faradic impedance.
