Human Technopole (HT) is an interdisciplinary life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government, with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT focuses on seven main research areas: Computational Biology, Structural Biology, Genomics, Neurogenomics, Health Data Science, Molecular Cell Biology, and Biophysical Modelling and Simulation. These areas are organised into five Research Centres that work collaboratively to enable interdisciplinary research and to foster an open, collaborative environment that will help promote life science research both nationally and internationally.
The Human Technopole Foundation intends to select from a minimum of 3 to a maximum of 11 external members for its Research Ethics Committee.
REQUIREMENTS FOR PARTICIPATION Experience and specific knowledge in the fields of bioethics and bio-law, with reference to research and the use of high-tech scientific infrastructures in the field of Life Sciences. Belonging to one of the following professions or equivalent:Legal practitioner / expert with several years' experience in the fields of bioethics, bio-law, personal data processing and/or new technology law. Executives in public administrations, with reference to the research system and the health system. University professors and/or researchers. Hospital doctors and clinical staff. Fluency in English. Previous experience in ethics committees. Proven qualifications of good standing, professionalism and independence will also be required.
Applicants must also self-certify:
That they have no pending criminal proceedings and no criminal convictions. That they have no pending disciplinary proceedings, have not been sanctioned for disciplinary reasons, and have not been suspended, disbarred or sanctioned by professional bodies. That they have not been dismissed or discharged from their employment with a Public Administration for persistent and insufficient performance, or that they have not been declared disqualified from a State employment pursuant to Article 127, first paragraph, letter of the Consolidated Text of the provisions concerning the status of civil employees of the State approved by Presidential Decree No. 3 of 10. 1. 1957, and that they have not been dismissed for having obtained their employment by producing false documents or by fraudulent means. That they are not in a situation of conflict of interest. APPLICATION PROCEDURE Applicants should submit:
Updated curriculum vitae, including any relevant publications and/or participation in other ethics committees. Self-certification pursuant to Presidential Decree 445/2000 attesting:That they have no pending criminal proceedings and no criminal convictions. That they have no pending disciplinary proceedings, have not been sanctioned for disciplinary reasons, and have not been suspended, disbarred or sanctioned by professional bodies. That they have not been dismissed or discharged from their employment with a Public Administration for persistent and insufficient performance, or that they have not been declared disqualified from a State employment pursuant to Article 127, first paragraph, letter of the Consolidated Text of the provisions concerning the status of civil employees of the State approved by Presidential Decree No. 3 of 10. 1. 1957, and that they have not been dismissed for having obtained their employment by producing false documents or by fraudulent means. Applications must be received by 5 p. m. on 31 March 2025 by PEC to ****** digitally signed or, if not digitally signed, attaching a copy of a valid identity document. EVALUATION OF APPLICATIONS AND APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS Applications received in the defined manner and by the deadline will be assessed by the Foundation's Management Committee and, if necessary, through an evaluation committee appointed for this purpose, according to the established criteria.
Following the evaluation, the Management Committee will appoint the external members.
DURATION AND CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ASSIGNMENT The term of office of each member of the Research Ethics Committee of the Human Technopole Foundation is four years, renewable consecutively for a single term.
External members will receive an attendance fee for their participation in plenary meetings; this fee is increased for the Committee member serving as Chairperson and may also be increased for other members appointed to specific tasks, in accordance with p 5. 3. 1 of the Foundation Policy. The amount will be defined in line with national regulations and current practices of other research ethics committees, including those of universities, hospitals and other research institutions, and will be defined by a specific guideline.
The Foundation reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to extend, suspend, modify, revoke, or cancel this job posting without giving rise to any rights or claims whatsoever in favor of the candidates; the Foundation reserves, however, the right not to proceed with the awarding of the above-described assignment due to the effect of supervening regulatory provisions and/or obstructive circumstances.
