Cargo Operations Specialist Primary Duties and Responsibilities: The role of the Cargo Operations Specialist (COS) is to assist and support the Cargo Operations Manager (COM) to lead, adapt, implement and manage rules and regulations formulated by the Global Cargo Operations Director (COD) to ensure that the cargo operations at stations across their region are executed in a safe, secure, and compliant manner. The COS will be responsible for supporting the implementation of KPIs set forth by the COM and COD and monitoring vendor and station compliance with the same as well as any and all SLAs in place with contract handlers. Responsibilities: Manage all activities at stations in coordination with and at the direction of the COM and COD. Ensure MAC employees and contracted service providers carry out ground handling activities in a cost-effective, efficient, safe, and secure manner. Direct and guide stations on all ground operations activities ensuring adaptation of best practices. Support the adaptation, development, and maintenance of processes and procedures to ensure MAC SOPs are adhered to and that the highest levels of quality are consistently delivered across the region. Coach stations to provide clarity and direction in accordance with MAC's overall cargo operations strategy. Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders across departments and vendors. Ensure implementation of CAPA process, ensuring that stations answer and close CAPAs in accordance with MAC policy. Manage the implementation of KPIs ensuring that Stations and vendors reach and maintain KPI targets set by the COD. Ensure cargo operations at station level are conducted in accordance with applicable local government regulations and company rules and regulations. Provide strategic leadership, setting the operations organization's direction while supporting safety objectives, implementing and managing standards and procedures as determined by the business and regulatory agencies to mitigate risk. Support the COM in ensuring a training plan for stations is in place. Support that all stations' training is complete and record-keeping requirements are satisfied. Identify the initial requirements, lead and manage implementation of new cargo stations (and ad-hoc operations), providing timely support and advice in the critical setup phase including manpower and other resources planning. Build relationships with local government regulatory agencies. Support to develop and lead strategic regional cargo operations projects in order to deliver desired results as directed by the CEO Air Cargo, COD, and COM. Support various projects as requested by CEO Air Cargo, COD, and COM from project pre-planning through change management implementation. Required Qualifications: You are able to work independently but also understand yourself as a team player. You approach challenges logically and solution-oriented. You strive for high quality and have the ability to add strength to our multi-national teams. You are flexible, highly motivated, and open to travel within the region as well as occasionally worldwide. You are able to provide swift responses and solutions on multiple complex requests. You actively contribute to developing MSC Air Cargo's operational excellence and are willing to share your knowledge. You should be fluent in English; further languages would be advantageous. You have extensive experience in all kinds of shipments from general cargo to special products. You have strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills both written and verbal. You have at least 10 years of air cargo experience and 5 years of experience in Airline Cargo operations activities. You should have in-depth knowledge and experience in handling and working with full freighter aircraft, preferably Boeing 777F. You have extensive knowledge and experience with ACMI, Charter, and dedicated lift solutions. You have a proven ability to distill complex, ambiguous information with a clear, analytical framework to drive decisions keeping both safety and quality at the highest priority. You have extensive and in-depth knowledge of IATA standards and dangerous goods regulations. You have a thorough knowledge of Cargo Operations, and an understanding of hardware, software, and protocols related to cargo handling systems.
