Catholic Music Director
The successful candidate for this position will be a 1099 contractor with Music Ministry International and be responsible for the following: 1. 0 Scope of Responsibilities.
The Catholic Mass Music Director/Accompanist will support the Catholic programs directing music and creating a worship environment that is designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of church traditions.
Must be able to provide music during the worship services.
Should be familiar with classical Catholic hymns as well as contemporary ones.
2. 0 Education and Experience Requirement 2. 1.
Must be able to efficiently organize and work with a variety of musical backgrounds.

Must be a high school graduate.
College degree or certificate in music or related field.
2. 3.
Requires a comprehensive understanding of the Catholic Mass organization, mission, vision, policies and procedures.

Show a creative vision for short-term and long-term growth and development of the music program.

Have at least 2 years recent experience as a musician at a local church or chapel.
2. 6.
Participate in a qualifying interview as needed and be able to clearly express the details of basic Catholic doctrine.

Furnish a resume including academic and work-related references.
3. 0 General Responsibilities.
The Catholic Mass Music Cantor/Director/Accompanist will:
3. 1.
Provide personal transportation to and from the work center to meet the requirements of the contract.
3. 2.
Provide 208 units which equates to 2 services per week; one rehearsal and two Masses.
Also, provide music for all holy days of obligation and rehearsals that do not fall on a weekend not exceeding 12 units.
Other special services may be requested by the Catholic priest; however, these additional services will only be provided with the mutual consent of both parties and in writing.

Comply with all Italian, Federal, State, and Local Laws and requirements and Air Force Instructions that apply to this position.
3. 4.
If awarded the contract, the contractor must submit an application for a background check according to Department of Defense Instruction (DoDI 1402. 5), Criminal History Background Checks.
3. 5.
Ensure all volunteers working with youth below 18 years of age receive a background check as described in DoDI 1402. 5.
4. 0 Specific Responsibilities.
The Catholic Mass Music Director will:
4. 1.
Direct and lead the Catholic Music Program on regularly scheduled weekend and special services as needed.
4. 2.
Recruit and train a cantor or perform the services of a Cantor if one is not available.
4. 3.
Work in conjunction with the Catholic priest in the selection, preparation and performance of music, which relates to the theme established by scripture reading and/or religious season.
4. 4.
Provide services to include four per week, one on Saturday and two on Sunday with one rehearsal during the week.
4. 5.
Contractor must be able to combine musical ability with a working knowledge of a wide range of music to include classical Catholic and contemporary hymns.
4. 6.
Contractor will ensure that all equipment and/or furnishings is turned off and/or returned to its proper place following services.
4. 7.
Contractor will adhere to chapel policy and Air Force Instructions when using chapel facilities and any base facility used in support of music programs.
4. 8.
Contractor will wear appropriate (modest) clothing when performing services and rehearsals.
4. 9.
Be punctual to set up for service and be present for the entire time period involved in any rehearsal, performance, or worship service contracted unless previously negotiated with the Catholic priest.
4. 10.
Be punctual for Mass and rehearsals unless previously negotiated with the Catholic priest, being in place in the sanctuary five minutes before each Mass.
4. 11.
The contractor will submit information monthly verifying the total amount of services and rehearsals completed to be certified by the Catholic priest responsible, or chapel representative in the event the Catholic priest responsible is unavailable.
4. 12.
The contractor will participate in or provide qualified replacement for special performances or practices which include but are not limited to accompanying on special occasions such as funerals.
These rehearsals and performances can be claimed on the invoice as a unit for services rendered.
4. 13.
Accountable for paying any Social Security payments, Italian, US Federal or Local Income Taxes, as well as any individual employed or subcontracted by them to provide services under this contract.
4. 14.
The contractor will personally perform the services described above or coordinate performance by a substitute of equal or higher proficiency who has been approved in advance by the designated Catholic priest of service.
Submit the names and qualifications of proposed subcontractors to the lead Catholic priest of service for approval at least 14 days prior to the proposed absence.
Subcontractors must meet the requirements for the position as outlined in this Statement of Work (SOW).
Contractor is responsible for payment of substitute.
5. 0 Place of Performance.
5. 1.
The services stipulated in this Statement of Work shall be performed at the Aviano Chapel Facilities in Area 1 and Area F.
6. 0 Period of Performance.
6. 1.
Services will be performed during the period of one year with 4 option years in support of the Aviano Catholic Chapel Programs.
