ABOUT THE ROLE: The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing and developing SPY clinical programs and services, including contract compliance, providing counseling to youth and their families, overseeing substance abuse services, providing clinical supervision and oversight to staff roles, and incorporating health and wellness support across spy housing programs.
This position requires an extremely perceptive and proactive person who is capable of relating to and working with individuals at all levels within the organization.
The Clinical Directorwill be sensitive to employee morale and SPY's organizational needs, and will work closely with the Sr. Director of Clinical and Housing Services, and Chief Program Officer to support SPY's mission and best practices.
WHAT YOU'LL DO: Oversee, grow, and develop clinical programming, providing support to staff and ensuring high quality service delivery.
Oversee, grow, and develop the Youth Family Reconnections Program (family reunification).
Manage clinical programs, including supervision of program staff.
Manage program budgets and department budget.
Develop and oversee programs and partnerships for mental health, substance abuse, and life skills.
Support youth preparing to reconnect with family or friends to enhance and promote housing retention.
Provide and/or supervise home visits (virtual or in-person) as appropriate to help youth assimilate to their new communities.
Oversee group and individual therapy provision ensuring a harm-reduction, trauma-informed and culturally competent model, and ensuring that youth are assigned to a therapist in a timely manner.
Participate as a member of the Performance and Quality Improvement team.
Provide mediation and crisis intervention to youth as needed.
Provide routinely scheduled clinical supervision to direct service staff adhering to ethical/legal and HIPAA standards of practice.
Supervise clinical hours for staff pursuing licensure.
Provide field instruction and supervision for clinical interns.
Provide written and verbal reports of how the program is functioning.
Serve as an ambassador for SPY in the community.
Ensure quality assurance and charting compliance, including regular peer chart reviews.
Participate in community and collaborative meetings as directed.
Complete and submit all required forms, case records, statistical reports and documentation to the Senior Director of Clinical Services within the designated timeline.
Conduct staff training and presentations as needed.
Part of 24 hour after hours rotation Other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of the program and organization.
Requirements WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Master's Degree in Social work is required.
Certification as a Licensed Clinical Social Work (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) is required.
2+ years post-licensure and ability to supervise licensure hours required.
Supervisory experience is required.
Experience providing direct services to high-risk youth including counseling preferred.
Experience working in a homeless services setting preferred.
Knowledge of social service resources for youth experiencing and/or at-risk of homelessness.
Working knowledge of trauma- informed and harm reduction service models.
Crisis intervention and deescalation skills and training.
Strong knowledge of mandated reporting, risk assessment, and safety planning.
Expereince manageing programs, budgets and contracts preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including organizational, detail and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with people of diverse races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities in a multicultural environment.
Ability to manage and support case management staff; adopts a teaching approach to providing clinical guidance.
Excellent rapport; works cooperatively with individuals, groups and organizations with diverse mission, composition, function, capacity and geographic location.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Changes in the environment, such as the office or outdoors.
Physical effort/lifting, such as sedentary- up to 15-20 pounds at times.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS: Mandated Reporting Requirements: The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 Revised July 21, 2017 as a condition of employment.
COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements: Effective August 9, 2021, the State Health Officer has mandated that all workers, paid or unpaid, in homeless services organizations must provide proof of vaccination.
If eligible for a booster shot, proof of booster is also required.
If not fully vaccinated, weekly COVID-19 testing is necessary depending on the program.
