The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) , based in Parma, Italy, is looking for a (Temporary Agent, Grade AD6). Are you a Cloud Architect with expertise, looking for an opportunity to design and operate innovative IT solutions within a data-centric cloud environment? The successful candidate will leverage cloud services and capabilities to design, implement, and optimize IT solutions to ensure robust and scalable cloud infrastructure. Depending on the area of assignment, the successful candidate will contribute to development projects in the ENABLE Department or maintenance and operations activities in the EMPOWER Department. Your key responsibilities Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud architectures using Azure services (e. g. , Compute, Network, Storage, Monitoring, Security), ensuring alignment with business and technical requirements. Translate business requirements into Azure solution designs aligned with the Azure Well-Architected Framework and Cloud Adoption Framework. Monitor and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency, leveraging tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights. Design and maintain solutions for identity management, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, and governance, enforce enterprise security standards, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks. Design and maintain integrations across multi-cloud environments, including Azure, Oracle HCM, Salesforce, and Appian, enabling seamless workflows and data exchange. Build strong relationships with scientific teams to provide expert advice on Azure architecture and solutions. Collaborate with data teams to design and implement data processing and analytics platforms, leveraging tools like Databricks for scalable and reliable data solutions. Stay updated on emerging technologies (e. g. , mobility, cloud-native services, AI, ML, automation) to drive innovation and development. Ensure high-quality IT service operations and end-user satisfaction, even if IT operations may be fully or partially outsourced. WHY EFSA? The successful candidate will be recruited as Temporary Agent Grade AD6 with the basic salary starting from €6, 681. 51 monthly, subject to an annual review of remuneration provided for in Article 64 and Article 65(1) of the Staff Regulations. In addition to the basic salary, EFSA offers a range of benefits: Various allowances to which the successful jobholder may be entitled, such as a household allowance, expatriation allowance (16% of basic salary), dependent child allowance, and education allowance. The salary is subject to a Union tax deducted at source and staff members are exempt from national taxation. Wide range of leaves (e. g. , annual leave, parental leave, public holidays) and flexible working hours. Besides working in EFSA's modern headquarters located in the heart of Parma, staff members are also offered the possibility to telework. You must satisfy the following requirements on the closing date for submission of your application: I. Eligibility criteria 1. General requirements Be national of a Member State of the European Union, Iceland, or Norway. Enjoy full rights as a citizen. Have fulfilled any obligations imposed by laws concerning military service. Be physically fit to perform the duties linked to the post. Have a thorough knowledge of one of the EU official languages and a satisfactory knowledge of another EU language. Meet the character requirements for the duties involved. 2. Qualifications A level of education which corresponds to completed university studies of at least three (3) years attested by a diploma in one of the following fields: engineering, information technology, mathematics, physics, or similar. 3. Experience In addition to the above, at least three (3) years of relevant and proven professional experience gained after obtaining the diploma. In case you do not fulfil all the eligibility criteria, your application will not be taken into consideration. II. Selection criteria The following competencies will be assessed throughout the different phases of the selection procedure. Candidates are also expected to demonstrate effective communication in both spoken and written English as well as strong motivation for the position. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience as a Cloud Architect in an enterprise environment, with a proven track record of delivering scalable, optimised, and secure cloud solutions. Hands-on experience in Azure development and DevOps practices, including designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and environment management. Experience in development or management of Azure services, including networking, security, storage, and monitoring. Strong understanding of automation best practices, including testing strategies, infrastructure-as-code methodologies, and proficiency in Bicep scripting. Familiarity with modern architectural principles, data mesh, and domain-driven design.
