Develop and coordinate all aspects of the Community Health Workers (CHWs) training program.
Plan and expand effective health education strategies, interventions, and programs for the community.
Job Duties: Plan, schedule, and coordinate Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, Dietetics, Dental, and other allied health professions' student clinical rotations for identified regional medical partner providers maintaining close communication with college coordinators when arranging rotations. Maintain close communication and information sharing with AHEC Clinical Coordinators, local practitioners/faculty members, physician office and clinic managers, and other physician groups. Serve as the main point of contact for the health care preceptors and prospective employers. Develop a comprehensive recruiting communication strategy, and establish an extended professional network. Obtain all credentialing materials from students, and orient students to the rotation site and practitioner/faculty member. Maintain regular communication with students, providing them with information about recruitment and engagement, University course coordinators and local practitioners for scheduling, credentialing before rotations, arranging student housing, and acquiring required forms and evaluations. Identify and enlist new clinical sites and practitioners for teaching, in collaboration with University/college course coordinators. Orient new practitioners/faculty members to the teaching expectations of the respective University/college programs. Plan, schedule, and coordinate logistics with the Community Health Workers (CHWs), and implement health education classes in various settings.
Assess health needs, resources, and capacity for health education/promotion, and conduct community surveys and evaluations.
Develop programs, materials, and events to educate people about health topics.
Provide classes to the community on how to manage existing health conditions.
Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and educational materials. Assist programs and staff at GCTC to advance recruitment, growth, and development of health occupations within the college.
Collaborate and participate at Gateway's events as needed. Plan and coordinate all aspects of the CHW program training.
Process the application and maintain the training center certification required by the state.
Maintain communication with the KY Office of Community Health Workers (KOCHW) regarding CHWs certifications, re-certifications, and Continuing Education. Attend AHEC-related and CHWs regional and state-wide meetings. Provide and deliver presentations and workshops for GCTC employees and students to increase student interest in healthcare professions. Assist AHEC Center Director and staff in preparing and facilitating AHEC events such as summer camps, Scholars, NKY HC Showcase, Explorers, etc. Schedule logistics and secure resources for on and off-campus recruiting activities. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Healthcare, Health Education, or equivalent. 4 to 6 years of relevant experience. Must be able to work independently. Ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing. Ability to multi-task, work under deadlines, and prioritize projects to meet deadlines with high levels of efficiency and accuracy. Must have proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Forms, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, and Word). Preferred Qualifications: Teaching experience.
