Offer DescriptionThe project will identify new fine-grained hard problems that enable non-trivial cryptography, justifying their hardness (theoretically and practically), and building primitives and advanced cryptographic objects, using the fine-grained point of view.
We will connect cryptography with the work done by statistical physicists on neural nets.
We will additionally construct new candidate public-key encryption schemes based on statistical inference and/or constraint satisfaction problems, as well as new incremental proof systems based on local testability techniques for tree codes.
The successful candidate will conduct research on the geometric structure of the solution space of random CSPs.
The tools used will include asymptotic methods from the statistical physics of disordered systems.
We require theoretical expertise in analyzing random and nonconvex optimization problems in high-dimensional spaces, and knowledge in cryptography (computational hardness and proof systems).
