Construction Coordinator
Seasonal Contract position supporting the National Science Foundation managed United States Antarctic Program as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). Construction Coordinator is responsible for planning, review, and data control of construction project materials, document controls, and Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manual development. Interfaces with Project Managers, Construction Managers, Construction Superintendents, Planning & Controls, Engineering, and Logistics personnel.
**Position Responsibilities (not all inclusive)**:
- Gather and maintain labor data for project reporting
- Maintain schedule documents for weekly reports to Planning & Controls, and Station Management
- Maintain field reports, photo documentation and archives, and architectural drawings for multiple field locations and special projects
- Ensure consistent inventory stock record generation by providing accurate descriptions for materials being procured
- Coordinate control and tracking of project related materials utilizing project reporting systems
- Coordinate Helicopter and Fixed Wing movements for Construction/ Science Project Support
- Coordinate support from multiple USAP departments to insure project success at McMurdo Station, South Pole Station and field sites
- Maintain and update inventory and tracking reports; including tools, materials, air cargo, field equipment and incoming inventories from field sites
- Coordinate project related document control processes, this may include: O&M manual(s) development, task-based O&M schedule development and tracking, spares inventories, equipment implementation etc.
- Coordinate, schedule and track required ASC trainings for project personnel
- Manage and organize department databases and perform weekly hard drive back-ups
- Expected to work outdoors in extreme conditions to conduct their normal tasking or other tasking as needed
- Performs timesheet reporting and compliance for assigned personnel
- Responsible for compiling Environmental ASPA & ASMA permits, as well as the End of Season Environmental Report
- Maintain effective communication between departments and represent department as needed at operational meetings
- Accurate and thorough documentation of hours worked, tasking performed, materials used, and processes involved
- Advise immediate Supervisor of job progress and material/labor requirements
- Accomplish tasking utilizing design drawings, specifications, and wiring diagrams
- Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), suggest revisions as needed, and create SOPs as directed
- Perform tasking outdoors in environmentally challenging conditions including wind and extreme cold weather
- Routinely utilize independent judgment and discretion to identify potential issues and solve problems
- Proactively identify any unsafe conditions, hazards, or Code violations and communicate them effectively
- Work directly with other departments to plan and complete tasking
- May deploy to remote research support facilities for day trips or extended periods
- Occasionally utilize the assistance of other station personnel to complete tasking, or assist other trades or departments with their tasking
- Comply with all ASC Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH), Waste Management and Quality Assurance requirements
- Participate in Work Center Safety Program and ASC safety objectives
- Participate in community programs such as "house-mouse" (chores), "daisy-picking" (station clean-up), "GASH" (galley clean-up at Palmer), and recycling efforts
- Perform other duties as required
**Required Education, Experience, Certificates and Licenses**:
- Two years of experience in planning and organizing remote cargo/supply movement, construction and/or facilities maintenance, and/or logistic planning is required. Two additional years' experience in the following is also required: customer service, customer resolution, administrative duties, reporting and data management
**Expected Skills and Competencies**:
- Minimum intermediate level computer skills with MS Office Suite experience to include Word, Excel and Outlook
- Possess the competencies, willingness and ability to perform the duties of position

**Physical and/or Other Requirements**:
- Willingness and ability to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods
- Successful completion of Medical and Dental examinations required by the NSF for deployment to Antarctica
- Successful completion of drug screening and background check required by employer
- Successful completion of Federal Background Check required by the NSF
- Must be willing and able to lift and move items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum as required by the position.
- Must be willing and able to perform physical activities including heavy lifting, climbing in and out of equipment, crawling, and working outdoors in extreme cold as required by the position.
