Construction Engineer
Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Construction Engineer to support projects located within the Columbia, SC region.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Provides guidance to employees within the latitude of established policies.
Establishes procedures that affect immediate organization.
Works on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including understanding of current business trends.
Acts as advisor to subordinates to meet schedules and/or resolve technical problems.
May have budget responsibilities.
Oversees the administration of projects during the construction cycle including technical, financial, and client satisfaction.
Accountable for the development, coordination, and execution of the planning, design and/or construction management activities and personnel under individual's direction on a day-to-day basis.
Under general supervision, performs routine duties.
Displays knowledge and abilities to evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria to meet basic engineering and construction specifications.
Displays applications of sound professional judgment on details of work.
Independently performs walk-downs and inspections of installed commodities to assure conformance with specifications and design.
Performs quantity surveys for tracking and reporting.
Provide technical direction to drafters, technicians, and surveyors.
Qualifications: Minimum Experience: Bachelors Degree plus Four years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
Due to the nature of the projects associated with this position, a valid US citizenship is required.
Valid US Driver's License required to visit project sites, clients, and other AECOM offices.
As a condition of employment, selected candidate must pass a Motor Vehicle Records review.
Preferred Experience: Experience with leading inspectors performing highway materials sampling and testing.
Oversight of interpretation of plans, drawings and specifications as relates to construction field tasks.
SiteManager or other construction software.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
SCDOT Certifications.
