WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
You will be part of the Consumer Products team, one of Bain's fastest-growing and most vibrant industry practice areas.
Bain's Consumer Products (CP) Practice team works very closely with partners, managers, and client-facing teams to bring Bain's best experience to bear and is integral in helping Bain win new projects and deliver value to our Consumer Products clients.
In the role of Consumer Products Practice Consultant, you will gain great visibility into Bain's differentiated Consumer Products insights, build valuable connections across the Consumer Products partner network, and develop sought-after expertise.
WHERE YOU'LL FIT WITHIN THE TEAM
As a Practice Consultant, you will be an integral part of the global Consumer Products team and will collaborate with the Retail practice team.
You will report to the CP Practice Director and will also work closely with the team's Global Leaders and Partners affiliated with the Practice.
You will also collaborate with the group's knowledge management specialist team, and help manage client-facing Associate Consultant or Consultant resources during the creation of intellectual property efforts.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Every Practice Consultant role is unique and each individual role may index higher or lower on certain areas of focus.
In this role you will work on truly global topics spanning across:
**Intellectual property and content**:
- Creation and ownership of critical Consumer Products research and products
- Contribute to Bain's intellectual property (IP) development and take responsibility for IP team results, with key focus areas including CP CEO Strategic Agenda and Future of CP sector point of view
- Build broad knowledge of practice content and gain emerging personal expertise (distinctive competency) in 1-2 relevant topics
- Help codify new insights to enhance existing content within our knowledge management system: knowledge capture and synthesis
- Play an active role in the deployment and commercialization of the intellectual property - internally and externally
Innovation - providing expertise and thought-partnership to case teams and proposal work:
- Build the Consumer Lab, a new initiative on the intersection of Consumer and Retail: you will be an active member of the team that defines the current and future role of the Consumer Lab, building a business within a business
- Retrieve insights out of the research crucial for commercial activity
- Identify implications for our clients across the consumer-facing business (CP, retail, technology, financial services)
- Identify new, innovative and creative ways to study consumers and understand the real motivation behind consumers' actions
- Play an active role in the marketing and branding of products and services both internally and externally - including the deployment and commercialization of intellectual property, articles, videos, and others
**You will also**:
- Collaborate with the broader practice team to support ongoing operations
- Provide coaching and mentorship to others on the practice team
ABOUT YOU
- Current or recent management consulting experience with exposure and/or interest in consumer products
- Passion and curiosity about consumers (why they behave the way they do)
- Written and spoken ability in English.
Another commonly spoken European language (French, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Italian) is an advantage
- Entrepreneurial spirit in identifying new ways to study consumers
- Knowledge of, and experience with, the leading business and analytics tools
- Ability to structure and lead complex business research and analysis in a fast-paced environment, as well as the skills to drive pragmatic business insights
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills, and a proven self-starter (comfortable with a remote supervisor and team)
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to parse insights from large amounts of data
- Strong communication skills and ability to establish credibility with senior leaders
- Ability to operate independently and manage competing priorities with mín
