You will also provide oversight of local marketing and client service functions which are represented locally in our Italian office.
The Italian office is a marketing and sales office based in Milan that distributes a variety of investment strategies and products.
Europe is a key strategic area for CTI and Italy is one of the primary markets.
It is an exciting time for us as we look to consolidate the business post the recent acquisition of the Bank of Montreal (BMO), Global Asset Management.
Responsibilities How you'll spend your time. . . . - The Country Head of Italy is the Branch Manager for the Italian branch of TMLSA (Threadneedle Management Luxembourg SA), and has ultimate responsibility for the activities performed by the branch locally and maintaining compliance in accordance with local governing rules (marketing, distribution, regulated and unregulated activities).
- You will be responsible for managing and developing local sales staff, oversight of middle-office, marketing, PR, legal, compliance and risk.
- You will be responsible for reporting to management and ensuring alignment across the business culturally and strategically.
- In this role you will be expected to actively engage across EMEA to share best practices as well as engage strategically on key strategic client initiatives.
You will need to own and implement key strategic initiatives in market.
You will be a member of the Country Heads group as well as Wholesale and Institutional sales channels.
- In this role of Country Manager you will need to work within regulatory and statutory requirements at all times and ensure that Columbia Threadneedle meets its fiduciary responsibilities, including responsibility for internal reporting, facing any relevant questions of the Tax Authorities and reporting requirements towards local competent authorities.
- As well as their line manager the CH will be accountable to the Luxembourg based Conducting Officer on matters of governance and compliance and ultimately the TMLSA board.
- You will monitor and oversee all local staff for compliance with corporate policies and governance rules (compliance policy, charter, AML, conflict of interest) and escalate errors and risks as appropriate.
Sales & Strategy - Responsible for developing and executing against a business development strategy that aligns with the overall EMEA Distribution strategy.
This strategy should include Institutional (Pensions, Consultants, Insurance Groups) and Wealth/Wholesale Channels.
- Responsible for delivery gross and net sales against annual targets as well as managing T&E against a set budget.
- Play an active role in new business development and in gathering assets by personally covering a pre-defined portfolio of key prospect clients and managing large client relationships in the wholesale sector.
Client Service - Responsible for managing our existing clients to ensure an excellence in client service and engagement as well as identifying opportunities for upsell and broadening our relationships Line Manager Duties and Talent Development - Responsible for all individuals in the Italian office either through direct or indirect reporting lines.
Collectively responsible for talent development, appraisals, setting objectives and training/development.
- Partner with marketing to ensure a marketing strategy and execution which aligns with the strategic plan for the Italian market Responsibilities as Country Head
- You will be expected to proactively engage across key areas of our business to ensure Italian requirements are understood and where appropriate met including ESG, product development.
- Be the spokesperson in the Italian market representing Columbia Threadneedle across both marketing, client and PR activities.
- Act as office manager for the Columbia Threadneedle business responsible for ensuring the office is fulfilling Legal and Compliance Standards and working places are in optimal conditions - Responsible for risk management and escalation of errors Regulatory Requirements The Country Head of Italy is the Branch Manager for the Italian branch of TMLSA and has ultimate responsibility for the activities performed by the branch locally and maintaining compliance in accordance with local governing rules (marketing, distribution, regulated and unregulated activities).
Required Qualifications To be successful in this role you will have. . . . - Previous professional and leadership experience with a focus on new business development and client service in a comparable wholesale client facing role in the financial industry - Long-established relationships within the Italian investment community with a specialisation on the mutual fund buyers side and large wholesale clients - Proven track record in new business development (from strategy to execution) including experience in establishing and maintaining strategic partnerships with large wholesale clients - Knowledge of the demands and requirements of Italian asset allocators, intermediaries and institutional clients alongside track record in delivering best practice in business development, selling funds and maintaining client relationships - Deep knowledge of the requirements for fund selling under Italian and EU investment law.
- Highly collaborative team player who has experience working constructively across Europe and with head office - Be highly driven, self starter with ability to take initiative and drive execution both in sales, and broader initiatives that affect the Italian market (product development, branding, messaging) - Experience in working with an international company with matrix structures - Fluency in written and spoken English and Italian Preferred Qualifications If you also had this, it would be great. . . - Experience in managing small (sales) teams is useful - CFA, CEFA, CAIA etc.
