AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to innovation. You will join a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Collaborating with people across AWS, you will help deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. Key Job Responsibilities The successful candidate will be accountable for: Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture. Managing key performance metrics for large-scale Data Centres across multiple AWS owned and Co-location sites, continuously driving improvements while delivering performance against metrics. Delivering 100% uptime on all customer-supporting infrastructure. Strategic planning and execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities on mission-critical infrastructure. Managing strong technical teams and ensuring operational excellence and career development. Successful delivery of strategic projects on critical infrastructure. Managing vendor performance by setting high standards, driving accountability, and conducting regular performance reviews. Risk Management: adopting and planning corporate risk strategy. Critical Event Response readiness including planning, escalation/incident management, and recovery. Experience in managing within complex organizational matrices and growing relationships between cross-functional teams. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant Engineering discipline or demonstrable equivalent (lesser qualification equivalent work experience). 5 years' experience in a high-volume mission-critical operational environment (e. g. , data center, healthcare, high technology manufacturing) preferably with 7x24x365 operational experience & responsibilities. First-hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, employee relations, leadership techniques, operational performance, and coordination of people and resources. Very good command of English. Full EU/IT driving license. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 10 years relevant industry-related experience. Demonstrated key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory. Knowledge of safe electrical practices according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies. Strong working knowledge and experience of Data Center infrastructure including UPS, backup generator systems, and mechanical-room infrastructure. Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout (copper/fiber) as well as low/high voltage cabling, BMS Systems, Monitoring, and alarming systems. Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
