Design Of Electrochemical Systems
Job description: Gemmate Technologies ( is a technological microenterprise which innovates existing products and develops new ones from science and technology advances.
In the frame of its wide international collaboration network with public and private research organizations and enterprises, potential businesses are evaluated by leveraging novel production solutions developed from early-stage research in the context of circular economy.
The process is centered on up-scaling the key enabling technologies throughout the production value chains of the most profitable sectorial fields.
Energy conversion and storage is an essential enabler of the energy transition which allows us to time-shift bulk energy from renewables production to time of energy demand, and enable the production of clean, stable power and frequency, avoiding voltage spikes, which is particularly important for the digital economy.
Among a variety of technologies, electrochemical devices have drawn considerable attention in recent years.
We search for a professional figure interested in understanding, designing, and optimizing electrochemical systems through accurate simulation.
The analysis involves transport phenomena, chemical and electrochemical reactions, thermal effects, fluid flow, and other physical phenomena that are important for the understanding of an electrochemical system.
3D FEM models will be mainly used for performance assessment, damage processes understanding, optimisation purpose, and production of synthetic data to train surrogate models for the design of up-scaled systems and components.
Aiming at a long-lasting relationship, we are searching for the right person to invest on, to complement / enrich our technical staff - relatively young and heterogeneous - to pursue the growth roadmap and fulfil its mission.
In the short-term you will use your background and develop the missing skills by working in the frame of Horizon Europe funded collaborative research projects ( developing systems as batteries, supercapacitors and photoelectrochemical cells for several industrial sectors (e. g.
: energy, e-mobility, IoT, sport & leisure).
In the mid-term we expect the candidate to be in a pivotal position to help with new insights and ideas for the future launch of products of this type.
Your primary tasks will be to: Understanding requirements and constraints Understanding existing multi-physics models and developing new ones Materials, components, and systems design by means of Multiphysics modelling Contribute to the development and scaling up of frontier technologies Device testing and interpretation of results Disseminate the results through communication with stakeholders and peer-reviewed publications Your expertise: You possess a solid scientific background in Physics Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Energy Engineering or related disciplines.
Candidates with PhD will be closely evaluated.
You have knowledge in Multiphysics simulation and widely used software packages.
Experience in COMSOL Multiphysics with the Electrochemistry module will be considered a plus.
You have knowledge of materials generally used in electrochemical systems and their properties.
You have an interest in novel technologies and enjoy working in interdisciplinary teams.
