**About the Role**:
- The 3D Design Packaging specialist is in charge of managing fast-tracked development plan on new packaging solutions, from the concept design to the industrialization phase.
The project development responsibility runs across all Ferrero categories/brands (Premium Chocolate, Nutella, TicTac, Estathé, Kinder etc) and also covers the design of multi-component and multi-material packaging.
- Project Management skills coupled with basic technical know-how of packaging materials and converting technology allow this person to translate a marketing brief into design concepts first, and industrial objects then.
- The 3D Design Packaging specialist should feel comfortable working with an array of development tools (from 2D sketching to 3D modeling and 3D rendering, prototyping and lab structural testing) and select among these the most appropriate for the specific stakeholder interaction required (marketing vs technical).
- The 3D Design Packaging specialist drives the accurate selection of materials to deliver aesthetic and structural performance parameters, relevant for both consumer experience and Ferrero production/manufacturing lines.
- The Packaging specialist also coordinates environmental impact evaluation of the packaging, manages key suppliers relationship and delivers packaging cost evaluations in collaboration with the Packaging Procurement Team to input Profit&Loss analysis.
- Proactive scouting of new packaging technologies and materials is relevant for this role.
- This role requires a proactive innovation mindset, project management skills coupled with good communication and stakeholder management skills.
Positive multi-functional team interaction and a high level of autonomy in the project execution coupled with the ability to manage risk and take decisions during project team discussions complete the profile.
**Main Responsibilities**:
- Technical Development of new packaging materials/items in line with pre-defined objectives and the stakeholder expectations, including:
- New Packaging design
- Definition of Material specification and protocol testing;
- Performance evaluation and compliance with Ferrero requirements;
- Project industrialization in line with project objectives, comprehensive of all packaging trials for new materials homologation and documentation.
- Actively contribute to the execution of complex plans within the Innovation Area:
- Collaborating with projects team members on high complexity cross functional projects, with internal and external stakeholders, leveraging on diverse competences and skills
- Ensuring full alignment within the team and relevant reporting to stakeholders
- Implementation of the Innovation strategy including business case evaluation covering, from up-stream to downstream to meet target costs.
- Supplier portfolio development to
- Deliver the new materials on an industrial scale;
- Design and manage risk mitigation action plan to ensure business continuity of the new packaging supply chain (de-risking);
- Interact with machine suppliers to develop innovative packaging solution material-technology.
- Build a robust internal and external network among relevant stakeholders.
**Who we are looking for**:
- 1-2 years Experience in R&D/packaging engineer/technical position at Brand owner/suppliers/R&D center will be considered as a plus.
- Basic Knowledge of plastic and glass material categories and related converting technologies
- Project management and Problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of 3D (SolidWorks or similar) and 2D design tool.
