Offer Description: The winner will work on the EPSI project, Electron Positron Space Instrument, (CUP I53D23000640006) in order to develop a future space experiment dedicated to the direct measurement of the flow of electrons and, separately, very high energy cosmic positrons, through the detection of synchrotron radiation (X-rays) emitted when they pass through the Earth's magnetic field.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of the minimal X-ray detector unit and a small flight detector prototype, with sufficient spatial resolution and high detection efficiency for photons with energy between 1 and 100 keV.
In parallel, Monte Carlo simulations will be performed with particular attention to the optimization of energy resolution, background rejection, and flight orbit.
