We are adding a Development Manager to our Italian team, based in central Rome. The role involves managing the development and delivery of utility-scale solar PV and storage projects from site origination through to fully consented and ready-to-build phases. Engagement with co-developers and key stakeholders in the development process and management of all project matters relating to development including land, planning, and grid connection.
What you will do:
Site Origination
Assessing suitable sites for solar PV and BESS development through various mapping tools, site feasibility studies, project budget and cash flow analysis. Engaging with Network Operators and other industry bodies such as local municipalities and Environmental consultants to identify opportunities for solar and storage development. Supporting other team members in the identification of projects and assessment of opportunities. Project Development
Managing co-developers, hosting weekly calls, following the day to day of each pipeline, liaising with the internal teams - engineering, legal and finance - to check/update project documents. Engaging with landowners regarding securing land for solar and storage. Negotiating agreements including landowner agreements, consultancy contracts, and input to commercial decisions, ensuring optimum value is achieved in all such negotiations. Manage key project deliverables including overseeing timely delivery of Heads of Terms, and project management of due diligence, legal documentation, and investment approval processes. Managing specialist consultants throughout the planning application process. Managing projects through the grid connection process with the relevant network operator. Engaging with external stakeholders (e. g. local authorities, system operators, statutory consultees, planning & grid consultants and co-developers) while representing the company in a professional manner. Consulting on project proposals with stakeholders local to the project area. Engage cross-functionally with the pre-construction, grid, finance and legal teams in developing a robust business case and ensure all project risks are captured. Managing and reporting on all project risks, ensuring management is kept fully abreast of any significant developments. General

Continuing to evolve and build existing knowledge and understanding of the renewable energy industry keeping a watching brief on energy policy development and media, and networking through attendance at industry conferences where relevant or required to inform decision making within the development team. Driving and motivating the project development team and progress their professional development through staff mentorship, knowledge sharing, and identification of training opportunities. Driving and promoting the corporate values of Elgin within the workplace. Actively foster, in cooperation with other staff, an ethos and culture of inclusiveness and openness. Supporting other duties as required and directed by the relevant Manager or other Officer appointed by the Board of Directors. Minimum Requirements:
Fluent in Italian. Bachelor's or Master's degree in business, Environmental science, Planning, Engineering, or a related field. Will ideally come from a development, planning, engineering or consultancy background and have 4+ years of project management experience in the renewable energy sector or related field. Experience with the full development lifecycle is an advantage, as the role requires a 'big picture' thinker. Excellent communication and organisational skills. A high level of motivation and a friendly manner to enable effective and positive engagement with colleagues and key stakeholders. The ability to work proactively and within a team.
