Offer DescriptionAlkali activation is a promising route to produce sustainable construction materials thanks to the possibility to activate a large variety of industrial by-products.

However, the use of alkaline activators, whose production has a high environmental impact, i. e.

sodium silicate, hinders the industrial scale-up of this technology.

For this reason, the research activity will deal with the application of more sustainable activators, e. g.

sodium sulfate and carbonate, for the production of alkali activated materials with comparable performances to the ones produced with conventional solutions.

Mechanical and microstructural characterization of the hardened materials will be carried out in view of the applied shaping methods, i. e.

casting, extrusion for 3D printing, and pressing.
