Offer Description Modern wireless communication standards or radar systems for automotive and consumer applications require transceivers operating at high frequencies, integrated in CMOS technology, with performance equal, or often superior, to the state of the art.
Two of the most critical blocks in wireless transceivers are the frequency synthesizer and the analog-to-digital converter (ADC).
The research program will focus on the design of those circuits, exploring digitally intensive solutions.
The key idea is to exploit scaled CMOS technologies to realize digital calibrations, adaptively operating in the background, which allow to relax analog specifications and reduce power dissipation.
The program goal is to realize ADC architectures operating in the GS/s range, with a resolution above 10 bits, and frequency synthesizers, with jitter lower than 100 fs, capable of wide-band frequency modulation.
