Director Eh&S
About the role**:
The EHS Director will provide in-house Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) direction, support, and guidance to the facility.
They will ensure the site complies with applicable EH&S regulations keeping abreast of any changes to laws which may impact the organization and that the corporate EH&S policies are available and updated and promote a culture of safety and health, managing in an efficient way the EH&S and security needs through dedicated Facility and EH&S organizations.
As a member of the Site Leadership Team represents the EH&S function creating / driving EHS strategy for the site.
This position would also contribute to the larger EHS Pharma Services Group network to develop long term strategy for the organization and serve as a coach/mentor to EHS leaders at smaller sites.
As a larger manufacturing facility within the geographic region, the EHS Director would represent the Thermo Fisher Scientific organization at local/regional industry groups/ committees.
**What you will need to do**:
- Provide strategic direction to the Leadership Team and senior level leaders at the site related to Environment, Health and Safety programs to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide guidance / support to the site on new business opportunities and projects
- Represent the Leadership Team when necessary at Tier Boards, Meetings, Townhalls etc.
- Report to the Vice President and General Manager of the Sit and be a member of the Site Leadership Team
- Lead the Environment, Health and Safety Program at the site
- Oversee the development and implementation of EHS Policies, Procedures and Programs in compliance with the local regulation and the TFS & PSG EHS Policy
- Oversee organizational compliance
- Create strategic plan for the site to drive continuous EHS improvement
- Lead the Emergency Response team for the site
- Lead the organization of EHS professionals to develop and deploy excellence in this discipline for company's operations
- Promote the strengthening of the EH&S culture: raise awareness and encourage change where appropriate, drive new initiatives, develop Best Practice programs
- Report Metrics to Corporate and Site Leadership Team
- Act as a point of contact for EHS matters:
- With regulatory agencies
- Clients
- Members of the public
- Ensure successful implementation and integration of all phases of EHS Management System for a major business enterprise; determine project timelines; oversee analysis, budget, communication, and integration; approve business workflow
- Develop EHS management staff; set goals in training, performance and development, lead talent management and career planning
- Participate actively in the Pharma Services Group (PSG) EHS network to provide strategic input to help drive the EHS program within the business group.
- Help to coach/mentor smaller sites within the network and when necessary provide support/support
- Assist and help when necessary Divisional EHS Leaders
- Participate in local advisory committees, industry committees and networks to promote Thermo Fisher Scientific and to represent the company as required.
- Identify industry (including regulatory) changes that may affect site operations and assists to develop and implement plans to meet compliance requirements.
- Select, develop and evaluate staff to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
Work with and advises staff on administrative policies and procedures.
- Lead the Health Center and the Facility Program at the site
- Take care of the correct execution of the security activities for the Site
- Assure the correct implementation of the civil works needed by the site through the Facility organization
- Assure the correct and in time fulfillment of the spare parts warehouse through the facility organization
**How you will get there**:
- Bachelor's degree in an EHS discipline or other related science degree (i. e.
engineering, biology, chemistry) required.
- Master's degree or professional certification likely
- RSPP Certificate
- Strong relevant EHS experience of increasing responsibility, most likely with experience managing and mentoring others in pharma, chemical or similar company

- An in-depth knowledge of the EH&S regulations, guidelines and standards
- An in depth knowledge of current and emerging EH&S legislation and best practice and demonstrated ability to interpret and implement requirements of national legislation, e. g.
D. Lsg 81, D. Lgs 152, ATEX, PED, CLP, Fire Safety, Process Safety, Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Safety
- Knowledge of security measures and local laws in terms of civil works
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experi
