Chiesi Corporate Functions These are the functions supporting the business: Global HR Global Finance, Procurement & IT Group Legal & Corporate Affairs Global Communication & External Relations Transformation Global Strategy, Sustainability and Growth (SSG) Who we are looking for Purpose To strengthen our Global Business Development team we are searching for an experienced candidate as Director Global Business Development AIR, to be included in the Global Business Development AIR Team.
The role will report into the Senior Director of Global Business Development AIR.
Main Responsibilities Responsibilities include working with the Global AIR Franchise and R&D to identify prioritize and assess new BD opportunities, establish and nurture external relations, and lead negotiations with the counterparts across the different phases of the Business Development Process in alignment with the Senior Director of Global Business Development AIR.
As Director Global Business Development AIR, he/she will be responsible for the following tasks: Continuously monitors and performs systematic landscaping of opportunity of the external innovation space within AIR from preclinical to commercialization in order to identifying BD opportunities in line with corporate and AIR Franchise strategy Generates and builds extensive international network in the AIR space and communicates with potential external partners Chiesi value proposition in the AIR space Builds and nurture solid relationships and cooperation with R&D, commercial within the AIR Franchise and other relevant corporate functions, and is effectively able to lead crossfunctional teams Working closely with the Due Diligence, Alliance Management and Integration colleagues provides project leadership on AIR BD opportunities ensuring a strong coordination and effective communication between Chiesi team and external partners from initial assessment all the way through deal closure Throughout the project guarantees a clear information flow, involvement and alignment of all stakeholders and robustness of the final outcome, from scientific, business and financial perspective including the recommendations to governance/management Collecting inputs from other functions assembles business cases and leads financial modelling/valuation for all types of AIR opportunities and is able to generate (and update) appropriate deal structures and deal terms that align internal and external interest in coordination with the Senior Director of Global BD AIR Maintains and solidifies relationships with the partners and/or counterparts throughout the discussions and actively participates or leads to the negotiation phase in coordination with the Senior Director of Global BD AIR Pitches opportunities to the senior leadership of the company seeking approval according to the internal governance and keep executive leadership regularly informed providing reports on results, inflection points and decision to be made.
Facilitates the handover to the Alliance Management and Integration Team pre and post deal Education Degree in life sciences and/or pharmaceutical sciences is required.
PhD or MBA is considered a significant plus.
Experience Required A minimum of 5 years of international experience in BD roles in the Pharma and Biotech industry with a track record of deals closed for assets, both under development and in-market, preferably with global scope and in the AIR space is required; additional experience in finance or consulting or Research and Development is a plus.
International exposure including but not limited to significant experience abroad (one year or more) and previous experience in a multinational organization are required Soft Skills Cultivates global perspective, taking a broad view when approaching issues and using a global lens Puts in place a sound decision-making process, showing a pragmatic approach to problem solving Driven to act with urgency, without compromise to quality Is highly skilled at building collaborative relationships across the organization, through effective team- and networking, conflicts management, communication skills and intercultural sensitivity Is resilient and flexible, able to actively learn through experimentations, successes and failures and rebound from setbacks and adversity when facing new or difficult situations.
