**About the Position
Laudato Si' Movement engages Catholics in action for climate and ecological justice.
We have nearly 10 years of experience in developing impactful campaigns that move the needle for the world's 1. 3 billion Catholics. This position will play a leading role in developing a global communications strategy and seeing its day-to-day execution come to life. From creating our editorial calendar to refining our digital media, the work of this position will be central to LSM's development.
This position joins a global communications team that is located across Latin America. The director of global communications manages seven direct reports and vendors, as well as matrix managing communications staff on regional teams. The director will also collaborate with LSM staffers beyond the communications team, including with those on the movement development, advocacy, eco-conversion, special projects, and operations teams.
We're searching for a results-oriented leader who will help Catholic communities understand and act on the inspiring values we share.
**Key Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership_
- Develop and implement a strategy to serve LSM's network.
- Develop a sensitive and in-depth understanding of each of our 10-20 annual global campaigns and projects, working with the owner of each to fully understand their goals.
- Anticipate and resolve owners' challenges in fulfilling their goals.
- Envision and implement a communications strategy for our global campaigns and projects, ensuring that goals are met by doing things such as proposing framings, identifying audiences, and weaving together publications across different channels.
- Grow LSM's network
- Develop creative and cost-effective methods to reach new audiences and convert to members.
- Create branded campaigns for the organization as a whole, with a focus on social media, to ensure a coherent and compelling digital presence.
- Develop and collaborate with a network of partners to co-promote campaigns and reach new audiences.
- Manage an in-kind budget of Google AdWords to reach new audiences.
- Management_
- Ensure the output of the communications team meets organizational standards and improves over time.
- Set KPIs for communications work, in collaboration with other teams as needed. Monitor data to identify what is working well and what needs improvement. Brainstorm with and coach staff to build on good results and strengthen areas that need improvement.
- Review and edit written pieces, ensuring that they effectively motivate audiences to take action.
- Review and provide feedback on websites, designs, and videos to ensure they follow best practices, adhere to LSM's style guide, and compellingly represent us.
- Establish and refine processes.
- Develop new processes and improve existing processes to improve follow-through and reduce friction and confusion.
- Ensure that the communications project manager has the clarity needed for effective daily management, including by working within organizational priorities, liaising with programmatic teams, and helping the project manager identify which new requests to work on immediately and which to postpone.
- Ensure that the global communications team (which this position leads) has robust processes to support regional communications officers (which are supervised by regional movement development teams).
- Manage the global communications team.
- Serve as the line manager to six full-time staff members.
- Coach staff members to develop their potential and ensure continual growth.
- Lead weekly communications team calls and weekly one-on-one check-ins to guide team and ensure all needs are met.
- Hire and supervise outside vendors as needed.

- Work with external partners.
- Liaise with partner institutions to engage in mutual support around communications
- As needed, liaise with journalists to respond to queries, provide interviews, and secure news coverage
- Provide direct support as needed.
- As needed, lend a hand to writing, web development, database management or other areas of work.
