Offer Description The National Research Council of Italy (CNR) announces a Call for tenders for the Director's recruitment of the Department Of Biology, Agriculture and Food Sciences – Rome (RM) Call N. 390. 462 DISBA.

The mission of the Department is to contribute to the advancement of scientific and technological knowledge useful for the development and enhancement of a sustainable and innovative agribusiness system. Objectives pursued include:

Increase knowledge in structural and functional genomics of organisms of agricultural interest and use this knowledge for new biotechnological developments.

Molecular and functional characterization of genetic resources (plant, animal and microbial) of agribusiness interest.

Obtaining and development of new plant genetic material with improved agronomic characteristics and/or increased nutritional/nutraceutical value.

Increased knowledge for genetic improvement programs for livestock production.

Design and development of integrated and environmentally friendly techniques in plant and animal production.

Creation of forecasting systems for the management of resources related to production and quality of the agricultural and agribusiness system.

Identification of new products and processes of interest to the agri-food industry.

Study and development of new diagnostic methodologies related to food quality, nutritional and nutraceutical value, and safety.

Increase knowledge on the relationship between food and health.

Development of legal regulations inherent in food law.

Requirements

Eligible applicants are individuals of high qualification and experience in scientific management with no restriction concerning citizenship. Good knowledge of Italian and English is required.

Terms of Employment

The Director is responsible for the overall operations of the Department and for the coordination of all activities related to entrusted programs and projects. The Director will have a full-time position with a mandate of four years, beginning from the official nomination, and can be renamed only once.

Evaluation of candidates

Applications will be evaluated by a Commission of three to five experts, including non-Italian experts, appointed by the President of the CNR. The evaluation criteria will assess the high scientific production, professional and managerial qualifications, and experience of the candidates, considering the scientific and organizational needs of the Department. A comparative evaluation of the candidates will be carried out, and successful candidates will be called for an interview.
