Director of University Guidance and Careers St George's British International School is offering an exciting opportunity for an ambitious, dynamic, experienced and well-qualified university and careers guidance counsellor.
The successful candidate will develop, implement and embed a broad, deep and cutting-edge careers and university guidance programme that encompasses guidance for tertiary education across a range of different nations including the UK, the US, Canada and continental Europe.
The role will be supported by a University Officer and a Specialist University Adviser.
Duties and Responsibilities Develop a world class university and careers guidance programmeLead the university application processGuide pupils and their families through the university admissions and application processesMonitor individual pupil progress throughout the university application processEducate families about the various universities and college admissions processes to include financial aid and scholarship possibilitiesArrange regular visits from university and college representatives to the schoolArrange on-site university fairs and support the attendance of pupils at local university fairsBuild and maintain relationships with university admissions professionalsDevelop strong alumni links to augment the university and careers guidance programmeMaintain a strong working knowledge of colleges and universities around the world and to show an active research interest in developments throughout the sectorDevelop and maintain tracking and analysis tools to monitor the success of the careers and university guidance programmePastoral Demonstrate professional curiosity in relation to each student's wellbeing and welfare, and foster the personal and social developments of each student in their careActively promote the social, moral and cultural ethos of the school communityCreate an atmosphere of support by being aware of, and fully compliant with, all of the school's pastoral policiesBe familiar with all the school's policies on Health and Safety and be proactive in ensuring the safety of all members of the school community at all timesPromote exemplary behaviour and a responsible attitude amongst pupilsBe aware of and act upon all policies regarding the safeguarding of childrenProfessional Promote pride in the school among the pupil body through high standards of dress, behaviour and commitmentEnsure that all communication is acted upon appropriately and in a timely mannerAttend Student-Led Conferences, Options Evenings, Assemblies and other school events during term time as the Principal or Head of School may from time to time requireBe responsible for all school resources, particularly those in your care, reporting damage or loss to the appropriate authority within the schoolContribute to the virtual learning environment, the website, social media and publications in support of your workFoster a close partnership with parents, initiating contact in appropriate circumstances and ensuring that there is a record of thisCarry out any reasonable professional request made by the Principal or Head of SchoolPersonal Skills The successful candidate will be:
