Early Intervention Worker-Adult Eating Disorder Service
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40, 000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1. 15 million and a wider population of 2. 2 million when our regional and national services are included.
This is a permanent, full time position.
The shift pattern for this position is Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.
Within the eating disorder service, care is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team in collaboration with partner agencies. It is based on the best available evidence for practice both logical and psychological, and is planned and delivered in a manner which promotes personal choice. The clinical team works collaboratively with service users, carers and their representatives to ensure that care needs are identified and met. The service offers a group programme in addition to individual intervention. The Community Eating Disorder Service also supports four eating disorder beds in Armadale Ward for inpatient treatment of eating disorders as required. The Adult Eating Disorders Service is currently expanding to enable delivery of Early intervention alongside their existing service.
The post holder has primary responsibility for ensuring smooth and effective implementation of the Early Intervention pathway alongside the current transition pathway. This will involve considerable liaison with Primary Care Services, Community Mental Health Teams and Children's mental health services. This includes the education and promotion of a new treatment pathway. The post holder manages all referrals for this pathway and offers initial triage, as well as providing a clinical service to people experiencing an eating disorder.
The post holder is based with the expanding Eating Disorders Service for Adults, which sits within the wider Community Mental Health Service. The primary focus for the post holder is in working with clients accessing treatment through the Early Intervention pathway, though the post holder will also contribute to, and is part of, the broader team.
As part of the role of Early Intervention, the post holder will also oversee and contribute to the management of the transition of cases from child and adolescent mental health services to the Adult Eating Disorder Service, attending and contributing to inter-service and multidisciplinary meetings and supporting care planning.
