Ee System Architect
Garrett Advancing Motion is the true pioneer of automotive turbocharging dating back more than 60 years and continues today as the world's leader in turbo technology solutions for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and off-highway equipment.
Garrett supplies turbos to nearly all major automakers in addition to the global aftermarket under the Garrett brand name.
As a result, unlike many other OEM or supplier organizations, Garrett Advancing Motion has visibility across a broad range of OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.
We have an exciting new opening for a Systems Architect.
You'll be given the opportunity to develop next-generation products and technologies for the automotive industry.
As an individual contributor to the Electrification Center of Excellence (eCOE), the Systems Architect drives the following activities:
Ownership of EE system architecture design activities for active projects, including participation in technical discussions with customers regarding EE system requirements, understanding them, challenging them, and proposing alternatives. Define and propose Electric System architecture alternatives based on stakeholders' requirements (end customers and internal customers such as product level and manufacturing) as well as safety and security requirements. Choose the "best" architecture through tradeoff studies, balancing stakeholders' requirements, cost constraints, timing constraints, risk mitigation, and reusability, and document the justifications for the chosen architecture. Cascade system requirements towards system elements through design decisions taken during architecture definition, including dynamic behavior and interface definitions, in close collaboration with domain experts (Controls, HW, SW, E Machine, etc.
). Ensure all aspects impacting architecture are accounted for during and after architecture definition, integrating the impact of functional safety, risk analysis outputs, and clearly identifying and assessing the impact of any change requests to the defined architecture. Oversee and supervise the work of the development team by collaborating closely with element owners (designers of HW and SW) to ensure the design meets architecture/system requirements.
Develop and/or support EE system engineering processes (ASPICE, ISO 26262, FMEAs, Functional Analysis, etc.
). Qualifications: M. Sc or Ph. D in Electrical/Electronics/Power Electronics Engineering. 5 to 10 years of experience in electrical systems architectural design and embedded systems development, with technical leadership in driving complex system architecture (HW, Embedded Software, and Mechanics). Expertise in EE systems architecture design. Helicopter view and cross-functional mindset with experience or references in software and hardware engineering activities. Experience with system engineering methods, including external and internal functional analysis, risk analysis via FMEA/FTA, and safety analysis.
