EHS Manager Milan, Italy The EHS Manager will be responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations in Italy and implementing company-wide EHS policies and strategies based on local regulations and Corporate Directives. This role involves assessing risks, promoting a culture of safety and sustainability, and ensuring alignment with Italian legislation (mainly D. Lgs. 81/08 on workplace safety and D. Lgs. 152/06 on environmental protection) and EU directives, in accordance with ISO standards. Main Responsibilities: Compliance with EHS Regulations: Ensure adherence to Italian and EU environmental, health, and safety laws and standards, including specific norms like D. Lgs. 81/08 (Safety at Work) and D. Lgs. 152/06 (Environmental Code). Manage permits, qualification and ensure compliance with regulatory inspections and audits from Italian authorities (e. g. ATS, VVF, ARPA, MASE, Registri Ambientali, EPR partners etc). Monitor the documentation compliance of the internal and external working places. Stay updated on legal developments and implement necessary adjustments to company policies. Act as the primary point of contact for local and regional authorities on EHS matters. Lead cross-functional teams to address EHS challenges. Report EHS performance metrics to corporate leadership. Environmental Management: Develop and maintain environmental management systems (EMS) aligned with ISO 14001 standards. Monitor waste management, resources usage, and energy efficiency to comply with Italian environmental laws. Drive initiatives for reducing the company's carbon footprint and support EU Green Deal objectives where applicable. Support logistic department on ADR, F-GAS, CBAM, EPR requirements. Health and Safety Management: Conduct risk assessments (DVR, DUVRI) and ensure the implementation of preventive measures. Take the role of RSPP (Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione) and coordinate other safety officers team members (ASPP's). Organize safety training sessions in accordance with Italian legislation. Coordinate emergency response plans, evacuation drills, and first aid protocols. Incident investigation and reporting: Investigate workplace incidents and accidents to identify root causes and prevent recurrence. Maintain detailed records and reports in compliance with Italian laws and company policies. Liaise with Italian insurance providers (e. g. , INAIL) regarding workplace accidents. EHS culture and training: Promote a safety-first culture through awareness campaigns and proactive initiatives. Deliver mandatory training for employees and contractors. Ensure that subcontractors and suppliers comply with company EHS standards. Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR): Support sustainability initiatives, including renewable energy projects, waste reduction programs, and circular economy practices. Collaborate with stakeholders to align EHS goals with broader ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) objectives. Manage the SA8000 management system. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree on HES or Management Systems is a plus. Minimum of 10 years in EHS roles, preferably within construction or service sectors in Italy in International environments. Mandatory holds certifications such as RSPP (Responsabile del Servizio di Prevenzione e Protezione). Preferable certification as Auditor for ISO 14001/ISO 45001/SA8000. Qualification as safety trainer is a plus. Knowledge of other Management systems (ISO9001, ISO22031) is a plus. In-depth knowledge of Italian EHS laws and EU regulations. Strong project management, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in Italian and English (spoken and written).
