Job Overview and Responsibilities The new Application Development Labs (ADL) within Solvay Materials R&I was recently created to empower our Frontline commercial teams and the R&I Product Development organization.

The ADLs mission is to develop solutions for our customers by creating a collaborative environment around dedicated application competencies such as prototyping & testing, advanced melt processing, and virtual engineering.

The goal of the ADL Electrification Global Initiative is to drive the development of high-performance polymer materials and applications that will enable the continued electrification revolution in the transportation industry. Solvay Materials is looking for a highly-motivated engineer or scientist to lead technology programs targeted at delivering materials solutions for e-mobility applications.

The ideal candidate will have experience in electric vehicle applications, good knowledge of high-performance polymers and polymer processing (extrusion, injection molding, and compounding), and a track record of leading high-visibility research and innovation projects.

The role requires close collaboration with cross-functional and geographically-dispersed teams, and effective communication of technical concepts both internally and with customers. Responsibilities:

Provide holistic and strategic technology leadership over the development of electric vehicle and e-mobility applications for high-performance polymers and compounds in Europe. Coordinate with regional and global application development teams, as well as external partners, to implement strategic testing capabilities for electrification applications.

Accelerate product innovation and customer technical support by facilitating the generation of key data on polymer materials and associated electrical motor components and vehicle systems. Lead the development of criticalprototyping and processing capabilities for high-performance polymer solutions in electrification applications such as coated magnet wires, e-motor electrical insulation systems, power electronics, etc. Manage and support critical research and innovation (R&I) programs for electric vehicle applications, ensuring successful execution of the electrification innovation strategy in Europe. Provide technical guidance and leadership in regionally-diverse and cross-functional teams, collaborating closely with R&I scientists, technical support engineers, and commercial professionals (marketing and sales).

Engage in technical presentations and dialogue with key customers.

Education and Experience Technical experience in electric vehicle or electric mobility applications, including a demonstrated understanding of polymer materials and components for electrical traction motor technology. Experience developing applications for high-performance polymers and delivering innovative materials technology solutions for customers, including solid experience in typical polymer processing technologies like injection molding and extrusion (wires, cables, films, etc.

). Experience leading high-visibility R&I programs from concept to commercialization in a corporate setting.

Skills Demonstrated ability to work with a high level of autonomy across geographic regions, in virtual teams, and in diverse business cultures. Demonstrated ability for technical influence and leadership outside of formal reporting structures. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency in engaging customers in technical discussions.

Proficiency in English language (business and technical) is required.

German and Italian language skills are a plus.

Additional Information The candidate can be located anywhere in Europe (remote working)Geographical mobility is considered a plus.
