NOTE: This is a trainee position, target UA-04.
Position may be filled at the UA-06, UA-05 or UA-04 grade level.
If position is filled at the UA-06 or UA-05 grade level, incumbent may be promoted non-competitively to the next higher grade level upon completion of necessary training and after he/she has met the necessary qualification requirements, quality of experience and upon recommendation of the supervisor.

Hauptaufgaben Incumbent provides emergency police, fire, and medical services to the public by answering emergency calls for service, and dispatches appropriate emergency services personnel and equipment required.
Maintains an accurate status of emergency response equipment and personnel to assure prompt and accurate response.
Receives and evaluates emergency calls, to include installation fire, police, ambulance service, and Commercial Intrusion Detection System alarms.
Interrogates caller to determine the problem and the nature of the call.
Prioritizes all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls.
Identifies the nature of emergency, level of response required, and provides this and any additional information to the responding units.
Performs crisis intervention with distraught emergency callers during high-risk situations until appropriate emergency response units arrive on scene.
Transfers caller to proper agency, as determined, or dispatches a variety of emergency personnel and equipment to include police, fire, ambulance, rescue or hazardous materials units.
Continuously monitors the installation alarmed facilities.
Determines cause of an alarm through monitoring equipment, type of facility, and initiates action in accordance with procedures set for that type of facility.
Maintains maps, checklists and charts, including automated programs.
Monitors and logs status and availability of police and fire units to assure an appropriate response is made.
Provides assistance to medical, police and fire personnel by acting as liaison between department personnel and other agencies.
Dispatches a variety of emergency response units as required.
Maintains proficiency in the use of checklists used during emergencies, in utilizing various types of maps, multiple geographical grid coordinate systems, computerized mapping programs used during search and rescue and hazardous materials operations.
Operates and maintains telephones, automated data processing equipment, printers, recorders, facsimile equipment, and other equipment installed in the Consolidated Dispatch Center.
Monitors radio and telephone communications with fire and police units to ensure resources are available during emergencies.
Prepares and maintains reports and records relating to emergency responses.
Provides various statistical data regarding emergencies to Management as requested.
Enters critical patient information to determine the correct level of emergency response required (i. e.
fire, ambulance, etc.
), in accordance with national guidelines for the National Registry EMT/EMR Program and checklists.
Compiles, collates, and verifies alarm statistics generated by or processed through the communications center, and transmits data to the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS).
Receives documents and informs all personnel of weather warnings, advisories and conditions.
NOTE: Tour of duty is 42 hours per week on shifts which cover the 24 hours and include weekends and holidays.
Incumbent may be required to attend Temporary Duty (TDY) Travel for training and work purposes.
Qualifikationsanforderungen MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet the qualification requirements in the "Qualification Standards" published by U. S Office of Personnel Management, as summarized below.
EXPERIENCE: At the UA-06 grade level, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of General Experience.
General Experience is progressively responsible clerical, office or other work which indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
At the UA-05 grade level, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-06 grade level.
At the UA-04 grade level, applicants must have a minimum of 1 year of Specialized Experience equivalent to at least the UA-05 grade level.
Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.
OR SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: At the UA-06 grade level: Diploma di maturità or equipollent diploma plus 60 CFU/Diploma di maturità or equipollent diploma plus 1 year of university exams ("Vecchio ordinamento").
At the UA-05 grade level: Diploma di Laurea Triennale/Diploma Universitario in any field or 3 years of university exams ("Vecchio ordinamento").
At the UA-04 grade level: Diploma di Laurea triennale plus 30 CFU towards a Diploma di Laurea Magistrale/Specialistica; education must be directly related to the occupation.
