Environmental Specialist, Environmental Assurance and Protection (EAP) DESCRIPTION Our team is seeking an Environmental Specialist who will be responsible for managing environmental compliance at Amazon Facilities within Italy. They will also provide technical support at our existing operations and future expansion across Italy. The Environmental Specialist will report to the Sr. Environmental Compliance Manager through the EU Environmental Assurance and Protection team. They will partner with the operations leadership teams to execute company environmental procedures and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. Utilizing risk assessments and compliance evaluations, this individual will lead site-specific continuous improvement initiatives to minimize environmental aspects and impacts and communicate and implement best practices. This role entails 50% travel to multiple sites across Italy. Responsibilities: Manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits. Participate in the development, introduction, control, improvement and application of environmental management control systems, procedures, processes and products. Measure and analyze sites' performance against published requirements in environmental policies and identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies. Cooperate with authorities in the implementation of any notification, permission and approval procedures according to environmental law. Participate in the annual data collection and reporting on environmentally relevant issues. Key job responsibilities: Assist in the implementation and enforcement of standards and policies to support environmental and regulatory compliance. Complete environmental inspections and performance analysis, monitor metrics, and facilitate site implementation of Amazon environmental standards. Manage and prepare site-specific environmental reporting to regulators. Manage waste management activities, classification, reporting and permitting requirements. Monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicable environmental regulations. Ensure site leadership and employees' training. Analyze environmental metrics and review trends to determine where improvements are needed. Identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies. A day in the life: You will engage teams and stakeholders to deliver effective environmental compliance. Once solutions are found, you will train the team and ensure the right Standard Operating Procedures are in place to ensure continuous delivery. The ability to flex is essential in this role, as priorities will change frequently. About the team: The Environmental Assurance and Protection team protects Amazon businesses and supports the needs of our customers by proactively mitigating environmental regulatory risks and protecting the environment. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS A completed Bachelor's Degree in civil, chemical or environmental engineering or related field. Experience serving as an environmental technical resource, program specialist, or program manager. Excellent English communication skills. In-depth knowledge of EU, country and region specific regulations. Experience in engaging with Regulatory Agencies in permit applications. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Broad knowledge of EU environmental regulations. Experience in warehouse operations and logistics. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Ability to manage multiple sites/remotely.
