Job Description: Position Overview: We are seeking an exceptional and highly experienced Europe Healthcare Procurement Transportation Supervisor to join our Healthcare Procurement team.
This strategic and high-impact role requires an expert in healthcare transportation procurement with a profound understanding of logistics across Europe.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of negotiation skills, operational excellence, and deep technical knowledge of the healthcare logistics industry, including regulatory compliance, cost control, and vendor management.
As part of the European healthcare procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing, optimizing, and managing transportation services for healthcare products across Europe.
You will be accountable for overseeing a small team, conducting detailed data analysis, and ensuring operational excellence in line with the highest industry standards.
This position reports directly to the Europe & LATAM Healthcare Procurement Manager and will be critical to driving value, compliance, and efficiency in the transportation processes and costs.
Key Responsibilities: Transportation Procurement & Sourcing: Lead the procurement and sourcing strategy for healthcare transportation services across Europe, ensuring the selection of best-in-class providers.
Negotiate optimal contracts, pricing, and service level agreements (SLAs), securing competitive advantages while maintaining high service standards and compliance with healthcare regulations, conducting RFIs, RFPs, and RFQs. Negotiation of Strong Contracts: Lead the negotiation and drafting of robust, favorable transportation contracts that maximize benefits for the company.
This includes negotiating pricing, terms, service levels, penalties for non-compliance, and risk management clauses, in close collaboration with the Legal team. Data Analysis & Performance Monitoring: Conduct in-depth, data-driven analysis of transportation metrics such as volumes, weight (kg), shipping frequencies, costs, and operational efficiency.
Provide clear and actionable insights to optimize transportation routes, reduce costs, and improve service delivery across all markets. Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure all transportation processes comply with local and international regulations, including GDP (Good Distribution Practice) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), as well as specific healthcare logistics standards (e. g. , temperature-controlled shipments).
Mitigate risks related to non-compliance, disruptions, and delays. Operational Excellence & Cost Optimization: Develop and implement strategies to drive continuous improvement in transportation processes.
Identify inefficiencies and cost-saving opportunities, ensuring that transportation activities are executed within budget and timelines.
Regularly assess logistics performance, reporting on KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost-per-shipment, and service quality. Team Leadership & Development: Supervise one direct report, providing mentorship and fostering a culture of high performance.
Ensure the team is well-trained, motivated, and equipped to meet both individual and team objectives.
Provide guidance and feedback on procurement processes, supplier management, and data analysis. Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key transportation suppliers and logistics partners.
Conduct regular supplier reviews, assess performance, and resolve any operational issues promptly to maintain service excellence. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders such as logistics, transportation, compliance, finance, and operations to ensure alignment between procurement strategies and broader business goals.
Collaborate with regional and global teams to ensure efficient execution of transportation strategies. Reporting to Leadership: Provide regular, detailed reports to Leadership, Sr. Stakeholders and to the Europe & LATAM Healthcare Procurement Manager on transportation procurement performance, vendor performance, cost savings initiatives, and compliance. Required Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement and logistics, with at least 1-2 years focused on transportation services within the healthcare or highly regulated industries. Expertise in Healthcare Logistics & Transportation: In-depth knowledge of healthcare logistics, pharmaceutical transportation, and compliance with relevant healthcare regulations (e. g. , GDP, GMP). Analytical & Data-Driven: Exceptional ability to analyze large volumes of transportation data, including shipping volumes, costs, weight, and performance metrics. Strong Negotiation & Procurement Skills: Proven ability to negotiate with transportation providers to secure the best rates, terms, and services. Language Skills: Fluency in English and Italian (both written and spoken) is required.
Proficiency in German, French, and Spanish or other European languages is a Plus. Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), ERP systems (Oracle Cloud, Coupa), data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.
). Willingness to Travel: Occasional travel across Europe for supplier meetings, audits, and operational support. Desired Competencies: Deep understanding of the healthcare logistics ecosystem, including cold chain logistics transportation and compliance. Highly organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with a strong ability to work independently and proactively identify areas for improvement. Strong problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to address complex transportation challenges in a regulated environment. Ability to thrive in a collaborative, multinational, and cross-functional team environment. Employee Type:
