Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a high achieving, self-motivated and results driven individual to join our Global Procurement team within a growing company.
You will be responsible for leading and managing the procurement of raw materials for our business.
The key purpose of the Commodity Manager is to develop, negotiate and implement regional sourcing and purchasing strategies for assigned material categories across eight locations in Europe.
You will add value by identifying a number of different supply markets and assess the optimal approach for the selection and development of suppliers.
You will be responsible for the development and implementation of commodity strategies for allocated sites, ensuring alignment of all sites, creating a competitive sourcing environment, delivering appropriate capacity, capabilities and performance which support our business objectives.
**Other responsibilities include**:
- Develop, implement and execute procurement strategies for specialty raw materials.
- Explore and identify new opportunities in sourcing raw materials in the region.
- Work closely with the Procurement Team in Europe and North America to develop and implement commodity strategies, manage supplier relationships and lead negotiations in alignment with global strategy and targets.
- Understand global market dynamics of assigned commodities/services and translate knowledge into effectively managing suppliers, mitigating risk and cost control.
- Develop and implement productivity plans, minimize working capital requirements and reliability of supply plans.
- Collaborate with local leadership, Global Supply Chain and Commercial teams to ensure business effectiveness and results.
- Cross functional Global Trade Compliance assurance for the region and optimization including import/export processes and contract adherence.
- Support resolution of cost, quality and delivery issues within the site sand regional teams as requested.
- Conduct market and spend analysis.
- Responsible for an estimated annual spend of $20 to $50 million depending on experience.
- Bachelor or Master's degree.
Qualification in Business or Chemistry related studies preferred.
- Minimum of two years outstanding performance within procurement including exposure to operations management, logistics/trade compliance and marketing within the manufacturing sector and ideally within the chemical industry
- English language fluency
- Comprehensive understanding of procurement/commodity management methodologies
- Experience working in an organisation committed to Health, Safety and Environment
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strategic mind-set and an ability to create seamless and creative solutions to challenging goals
- Ability to build key working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Recent knowledge of current technologies related to process analysis, supply chain optimisation, procurement, logistics, resource planning, inventory management and customer integration
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally to visit and review supply partners (up to 25%)
- Strong independent drive to achieve success in your work
- Experience in chemical commodity business and/or phenolic and coatings industry preferred
- Solid Microsoft Office skills especially PowerPoint and Excel
