We are seeking a Senior European Economist to work within the European macro forecasting and research team.
The position will be based in Milan.
The European macro team, which comprises around ten other economists, reports to the Managing Director for Macro and Investor Services and is responsible for all of Oxford Economics' European macro forecasts and research, including contributions to a number of OE's global publications and macro-related consultancy projects as appropriate.
The team has an outstanding forecasting track record and produces high quality economic research.

**Key Responsibilities**:
- Forecasts for a number of European economies.
This will require understanding and learning the use of the Oxford Economics Global Economic Model, the tool that informs our macroeconomic projections.
- Producing monthly economic forecast reports on the countries under your supervision, as well as more in-depth topical research on those countries.
- Producing regular commentary and analysis of the broader eurozone economy including contributions to our daily and weekly publications as well as regular in-depth research reports covering topical eurozone macroeconomic issues.
- Contributing research ideas for broader eurozone-related work and helping edit eurozone publications.
- Presenting the house view to clients through client conferences, webinars and meetings.
You will also be required to demonstrate and train clients in the use of our global economic model.
- Managing/mentoring junior team members.
- Providing client support on European related queries.
- Help develop Oxford Economics' presence in the Italian and European markets, providing client support as well as working on specific consultancy projects.
- Supporting sales and marketing by presenting Oxford's view and products to a diverse audience, ranging from financial firms, public institutions or industrial companies.
- Providing media commentary as requested on European and Italian macro themes.
**Required skills**:
- Three to four years of experience as a macro economist covering European economies (experience as a southern european economist would be a plus).
- A degree in economics, preferably at postgraduate level and with a superb academic record.
- First rate analytical and quantitative skills.
Experience in macroeconomic modelling and producing forecasts is a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Italian (other european languages would be beneficial but not indispensable), with the ability to explain economic concepts to a diverse audience, including non-specialists.
