Fbk Is Looking For A Researcher In The Field Of Integrated Photonics; This Position Is Partiall[...]
FBK is looking for a Researcher in the field of integrated Photonics; this position is partially funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).
Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) is a private research institution devoted to excellence in research in numerous disciplines and designated to the role of keeping the Autonomous Province of Trento in the mainstream of European and international research.
Each research area is assigned to a specific research Centre, of which there are twelve totals.
Information regarding the research Centres, their activities and production are available at.
In particular, the FBK Centre for Sensors and Devices (FBK-SD) ( ) is an applied research centre that operates in the following scientific and technological areas: quantum technologies, detectors, microsystems and integrated systems.
The FBK-SD has extremely advanced technical knowhow in innovative devices design and fabrication technologies as well as in system integration.
The strategic mission of the FBK-SD is scientific excellence combined with the ability to exploit research results.
The innovation model is open to collaboration in national and international expertise networks.
Workplace Description The candidate will be working in the Integrated and Quantum Optics (I&QO) unit of FBK-SD.
I&QO develops, fabricates and characterizes integrated optical circuits realized on different material platforms operating in the visible NIR spectral region.
The principal application fields for the integrated optical circuits are biomedical sensing, miniaturization of spectrometers and interferometers, and devices for applications in telecommunications among others.
In the context of quantum optics, we develop integrated optical circuits and devices for the generation, manipulation and detection of single and entangled photons on chips realized within the very same optical platform.
The key interest in these technologies refers to the use in quantum optical simulators with compact modules.
The integrated optical circuits are designed and fabricated by FBK, within the cleanrooms of the center of SandD.
More information about I&QO is available at:.
Job Description FBK-SD is looking for a dynamic, highly motivated, independent researcher in the field of integrated photonics devices, to strengthen the team.
Integrated photonic devices and platforms are built for applications in sensing, telecommunication and quantum technologies.
The research activity will focus on the development of integrated photonic circuits and its characterization.
Depending on the ability of the candidates and the current needs, the activity could cover the complete R&D cycle from the conception of new technological solutions and development of new or improvement of existing platforms.
These include device design through simulations, development of fabrication steps or fabrication sequences in cleanroom environment, electro optical characterization of integrated photonic circuits and eventually the set-up of measurement routines on new equipment.
The work will be performed in close collaboration with other device and process scientists.
The selected candidate will become a key part of the team working on ongoing projects and future developments, actively participating in the dissemination and networking activities.
Job Requirements Master degree, preferably in the field of physics, material science, chemistry or engineering; Solid background and experience in at least one of the following fields: optics, semiconductor physics, micro and nanofabrication; Experience in working for research projects; Teamwork approach, good communication and relational skills; Pronounced abilities in prioritizing tasks and effective time management; Strong orientation to results, determination, flexibility and aptitude for problem-solving.
The following requirements will provide additional score in the evaluation process:
PhD degree preferably in the field of physics, material science, chemistry or engineering; Knowledge and competencies in integrated and/or quantum optics; Knowledge of modelling and simulation with FEM/FDTD software tools; Knowledge and competencies in measurement and characterization of integrated optical circuits; Knowledge and competencies in micro-nanofabrication in clean room environment; Knowledge of both written and spoken Italian.
Employment Type of contract : fixed-term contract
