Field Services Engineer
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Field Service Engineer (FSE) to join our technical support team in Europe.
Based in our office just north of Milan, Italy, you will play a critical role in providing technical expertise, maintenance, and customer support for our Fiber Laser Systems.
This position requires a self-motivated, hands-on professional with strong problem-solving skills, technical proficiency, and a customer-focused mindset.
Experience in support of fiber lasers is beneficial but not essential.
Key Responsibilities Install, set up, and commission CW fiber laser systems at customer sites, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety standards. Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and perform repairs on fiber laser source in both the field and the office. Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers, offering timely resolutions to technical inquiries and issues. Train customers and operators on laser system usage, care, and safety procedures. Maintain detailed service reports, documentation, and logs for completed tasks and identified issues. Build strong relationships with customers by delivering exceptional service and acting as a trusted technical advisor. Work closely with the global service team and engineering departments to share insights and implement improvements. Travel throughout Italy (and occasionally other regions) to support customer needs, with occasional international training or meetings. Qualifications and Skills Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is preferred. Experience: At least 2 years of experience in field service engineering (installation, maintenance, and repair).
Experience with fiber laser systems is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency with system operation, diagnostics, and repair.
Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory compliance.
Strong understanding of electrical, optical, and mechanical systems.
Experience with CAD or technical diagrams is a plus. Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and under pressure to meet deadlines.
Strong organizational and time-management skills. Language: Fluency in Italian and professional proficiency in English are required. Other Requirements: Valid driving license.
