Finance Director, Southern Europe About the role: The Finance Director Southern Europe BU of Haleon will be required to play a critical role in driving the establishment and growth of the company in the Southern Europe Business Unit. Credibility in this role requires an experienced and proven financial leader who has already enjoyed a considerable and successful tenure as a Business Unit or market CFO. Above all else, the ideal candidate must be able to work as an effective business leader to the General Manager of the Business Unit in driving the growth and performance of the company as well as winning market shares in a highly competitive environment. This requires a leader who has a successful track record in an environment of commensurate scale and complexity, with an international footprint and mindset. The candidate must be a broad financial leader capable of supporting large-scale business transformations realizing synergies where possible. Candidates will need to bring strong experience of operating in consumer-focused businesses where they have successfully invested capital and made portfolio choices that have delivered growth and shareholder return. Cultural fit will be paramount, and candidates must share Haleon's vision of delivering better everyday health with humanity. A collaborative and people-focused approach will be key. In order to be successful, this leader must be a rounded, agile and bold leader, having worked cross-geographies and/or cross-functions. Cultural adaptability to southern Europe will need to be high. Key Responsibilities: The Finance Director SE is responsible for Italy, Spain and Portugal. In this role, you will be a member of both the SE BU Leadership Team and the Regional Finance Leadership Team. The Finance Director SE BU is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the company strategy and business priorities within the SE Business Unit. Together with the GM SE BU they will shape the financial strategy, drive business performance, and remain independent and objective in meeting financial reporting requirements. Thus, the successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Financial Analysis & Performance Management Work closely with the business to drive financial performance. Ensure full transparency to drive meaningful analysis and insights. Develop a financial framework to generate value and translate the operational and financial metrics into key insights to support critical business decisions. Challenge the business plans and ongoing financial performance with the business leaders, spotting trends early and interpreting information quickly to ensure that action is agreed and carried out effectively. Identify innovative and creative opportunities for cost savings, and work with the business to deliver these. Oversee the planning and budgeting process, collecting the inputs, and comparing the company's actual performance against the budgeted targets. Financial Reporting & Control Ensure the accuracy, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting and ensure compliance with any relevant reporting standards. Maintain appropriate internal financial controls and risk management processes across all operations. Tax, Treasury Manage working capital effectively and efficiently. Deliver accurate cash flow forecasting and reporting. Ensure adequate financial resources are available to fund the company's investment proposals within the constraints of sound financial management. Ensure cash is optimally managed, taking appropriate investment and hedging decisions where necessary. Optimise the regional tax policies and procedures while adopting a low-risk stance to successful challenge by the tax authorities. Corporate Finance Play a lead role in any regional M&A activity. This could include identification of target assets, management of due diligence, negotiation of sale and purchase agreement, and post-merger integration. Financial Relationships & External Relationships Support the Regional Finance Vice President and BU GM in developing the external reputation and brand of the company with relevant external stakeholders. Build strong relationships with other key stakeholders including audit partners, banks, key customers, advisors, and lawyers. Act as a key leader driving the continued development of the company's ESG agenda. Risk Management & Internal Audit Ensure the management of risk to an optimum level. Partner with the Internal Audit team ensuring standards of governance and reporting are adhered to globally, identifying risks, and taking the opportunity to share best practice. Approve all regional agreements concerning financial obligations, such as commercial contracts, IT assets, and services, and other actions requiring a commitment of financial resources. Strategy & Planning Work in partnership with the GM SE BU, the Regional Finance Vice President and the executive team to drive the competitiveness, performance and long-term development of the business. Contribute to the strategic direction of the overall business as a key member of the regional management team. Take an active role in conversations about strategic development, clearly articulating to stakeholders the strategic debate, as well as the financial implications. Co-ordinate the planning process, incorporating financial planning for expansion plans. Assess and fully understand the financial requirements of these plans and communicate these clearly to stakeholders. Development of the Finance Organisation Ensure the finance organisation is commensurate with the needs of the business and is able to support the company's growth plan. Drive change and transformation within the finance organisation, driving efficiencies, enhanced processes, and cost reduction. Develop a finance talent agenda, ensuring Haleon can attract the best diverse finance talent, with a view to succession planning at every level and strong career development opportunities for finance professionals. Ensure that all members of the Finance team are competent to carry out their role by providing training for them, setting development plans with them, or providing them with coaching, to help improve their overall performance. Year one critical success factors: Developed a strong understanding of the key value drivers of the Haleon business in the region. Ensured that appropriate financial growth targets and KPIs are established for the business and that, month by month, the organization is managed to meet these targets. Successfully developed a trusting relationship with the BU Leadership Team and Haleon's finance team that instills trust and confidence coupled with decisive action. Devised and implemented a plan to build-up and further development the SE finance function and have begun to see a material impact of new initiatives. Effectively supported the management team to develop the growth strategy and achieve the desired financial results. Successfully supported in growing the business and achieving the collective goals. Effectively understood and have become part of the Haleon culture, building strong relationships across the company. Building up the foundations of the future Haleon finance team and conduct the necessary recruitments. Required experience: Proven CFO/ Finance Director: Experience as a proven Business Unit or market CFO with a full suite of financial management and leadership skills and a successful track record. Fully versed in company corporate governance and reporting processes. Scale and Complexity: Experience in an environment of commensurate scale and complexity, taking into account scale of revenues, profitability and market capitalization as well as complexity of global footprint, categories, channels (mass Markets, Pharmacies and ecommerce) and business model. Growth Business Partner: A track record as a finance business partner who has driven successful growth and performance; can point to driving enhanced performance through a series of commercial, strategic and financial initiatives. Global Experience: Demonstrated international experience and agility with an ability to operate effectively in diverse geographies. Relevant Industry Experience: Experience of operating in a consumer-facing environment with wholesale and retail, ideally a product-driven business which includes multi-categories. Transformation Experience: A track record of driving successful transformations on a large-scale, including cultural transformations, reorganisations, business model changes, and large-scale system and process implementation. Italian language is NOT compulsory.
