**The Role**:
The role sits within the Global Finance Shared Services team and is responsible for accounting, financial reporting, and local finance operations activities across the five Italian Charles Taylor entities. The role requires an experienced accountant with local Italian accounting knowledge who can use their experience to scale up processes and controls and make them fit for purpose.
The initial challenge will be to insource end to end accounting operations accounting from the current third-party provider currently based in Italy and our team in UK and to ensure the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of month end close, local compliance reporting and that effective financial control is exercised across Charles Taylor's Italian businesses.
The role also oversees timely, complete, and accurate third-party accountant output in non-Italian branches of some of Charles Taylor's European businesses.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Ownership of accounting and financial reporting and local finance operations activities for the Italian entities and their overseas branches / subsidiaries to ensure that ledgers are accurate and complete at all times.
- Monthly close activities are performed based on a consistent process that ensures complete and accurate information being submitted to CT Group on a timely basis.
- Manage the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process to ensure robust and timely completion, old balances are investigated and resolved, and that the output stands up to scrutiny for audit.
- Ensure the group control framework is embedded within the local Italian business and is operating effectively.
- Improve the Italian finance function by implementing streamlined processes, enforcing policies, and working closely with business leads.
- Perform tax accounting activities including producing the quarterly VAT return, intrastat accounting, statutory reporting (GAAP and IFRS) and managing with the company corporation tax return.
- Lead the year end process for the preparation of the annual statutory accounts for the Italian entities ensuring any external audit queries are resolved promptly.
- Act as a payment authoriser on the Italian bank accounts and co-ordinate the weekly cashflow reporting to the Group Treasury Team
- Line manages one direct report, an accounting and administration role.
**Required Skills**:
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with a minimum of five years post qualified experience including experience with IFRS and local Italian accounting and reporting requirements.
- Experience of working in an international business
- Change management mindset and an ability to improve current process and controls.
- Experience of operating Italian accounting systems (Zucchetti, Sigla, Insoft Orsa)
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
- Highly numerate with excellent communication skills, teamwork, and collaboration skills
- Ability to speak English to a satisfactory level.
- Ability to prioritise and work under a tight schedule.
- Forward thinking with a process improvement mindset
**Language Requirements**:
Proficient Italian and good English. The role is based in Italy working with the local Italian team and the common language of the manager of this role will be English.
