Financial Analyst
Major established global company with a good working culture is seeking a **Financial Analyst **to join their Program Management Office in the lower portion of upstate NY.
Functioning as an information analyst will collect and analyze quantitative and qualitative data using a combination of statistical knowledge and business intuition to turn data into useful information.
This individual will work closely with management to make strategic recommendations and business decisions based on this information.
Responsibilities will include financial tracking and reporting, discounted cash flow analysis, development of KPIs and dashboards, process re-engineering, and project management for critical business initiatives.
There is an attractive relocation package available as well as a profit sharing plan that has been averaging about 7% for the past number of years.
- Cost tracking / process improvement
- Develops a standardized method of project cost tracking.
Assist program managers in project cost tracking.
- Monitors product costs throughout project lifecycle.
Identifies and addresses costs that deviate from forecast.
- Collaborates with IT personnel to develop a more consistent and efficient method for tracking both project and product costs.
- Interacts with a variety of departments to procure financial data and ensure its integrity.
- Develops advanced financial models to assist in executive decision making.
- Reviews and leads financial process creation and improvement initiatives.
- Assists in the preparation and monitoring of the department budget.
Systems / Data Analysis
- Develops and implements data queries for analysis and reporting.
- Utilizes a variety of analytical tools and trains both within and outside of the PM Department when necessary.
- Develops, with IT, the financial aspect in the implementation of a resource forecasting and tracking system, (i. e.
Innotas).
- Works with a variety of systems (SAP, JDE, Innotas, etc. )
to develop more effective ways to analyze data.
Communication
- Communicates with numerous departments.
Teaches and trains when appropriate.
- Assumes position of "go-to" person for all financial-related project issues.
- Participates as the financial representative on the numerous project teams.
Assesses and address all financial-related issues.
- Coordinates with Finance and Accounting to ensure that financial methods within the PMO are consistent with those of the Finance and Accounting Department.
- Presents effectively at peer level and executive level.
- Develops standardized worksheets and templates for the financial portions of presentations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including senior and executive level staff, are also key to success.
A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field plus at least 5 years of related experience is required.
Master's degree preferred.
