RINA is currently recruiting for a Geotechnical Engineer for Infrastructures & Dams to join its office in Genoa, Naples or Milan within the Environmental and Engineering Geoscience Division.
MissionThe Geotechnical Engineer performs and coordinates geotechnical characterizations, numerical analyses and verifications under the supervision of a Senior Engineer for deep and shallow foundations, retaining walls, etc.
The Geotechnical Engineer provides support in the writing of technical reports and conducting other necessary inspections and studies.
The individual works with other engineers on a project team, maintaining effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers, and clients.
The role focuses on analyzing and determining the possible impacts of soil and rock on a construction site when placed under pressure from structures.
Key AccountabilitiesAssist in development of geotechnical engineering projects from the preliminary phase to the detailed design, as well as the technical control of projects developed by other parties and the technical assistance during the construction phase under the supervision of a senior engineer or a principal engineer. Assist in design of foundation/retaining structures (e. g.
bearing capacity, settlement, soil–structure interaction, structural calculation), slope stability, underground structures design and other geotechnical topics. Assist in the development of finite element or difference models for static and dynamic analyses. Assist in the execution of tests and analyses to assess the risk to humans and the environment. Assist in the execution and review of mapping for rock slopes faces, cuts and stabilization measures. Develop project schedules and deliverable timelines under the supervision of more experienced engineers. Prepare the technical deliverables (technical reports, project performance documentation and engineering drawings, etc.
). Be aware and understand the Quality Policy and ensure that all assigned activities are executed in accordance with the RINA QMS. EducationMaster's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering
QualificationsExperience: Intermediate position with preferably 3-5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering or related fields.
Prior internships or coursework in geotechnical engineering projects are advantageous. Technical Skills:Basic understanding of geotechnical engineering principles and practices, with a willingness to learn and develop proficiency. Familiarity with foundation and retaining structure design concepts, including bearing capacity, settlement analysis, soil-structure interaction, and slope stability analysis. Basic knowledge of finite element or difference modeling software for static and dynamic analyses, with a willingness to assist in model development under supervision. Basic knowledge of the following software: Paratie, Plaxis 2D e 3D, Max16, Api++, Rocscience Suite, Lpile, Group, Slope (Geostudio), Microsoft Office Suite.
